Patient perspective on virtual prechemotherapy visits in gynecologic oncology
CONCLUSIONS: Most patients are highly satisfied with virtual visits and prefer virtual care to be included when undergoing chemotherapy. A hybrid model should be offered to gynecological cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, with patient preference dictating the cadence of virtual visits.PMID:38694709 | PMC:PMC11061257 | DOI:10.1016/j.gore.2024.101397 (Source: Ann Oncol)

Positive Nipple Margins in Nipple-Sparing Mastectomy: Management of Nipples Containing Cancer or Atypia
CONCLUSIONS: Nipple excision is effective management for nipple margins containing tumor. No intervention is required for nipple margins containing only atypia. Our results support broad eligibility for NSM with careful nipple margin assessment.PMID:38691238 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-024-15362-1 (Source: Ann Oncol)

Prognostic Implications of Small Cell Lung Cancer Transcriptional Subtyping for CNS Metastases
CONCLUSION: To our knowledge, this report is the first to investigate CNS-specific outcomes based on transcription factor subtypes in patients with SCLC. BM-free patients at diagnosis with A+/N- or A-/N+ subtypes had worse outcomes compared with those with transcriptional factor coexpression. Further investigation into the mechanisms and implications of SCLC subtyping on CNS-specific outcomes is warranted to ultimately guide personalized care.PMID:38691815 | DOI:10.1200/PO.23.00470 (Source: Ann Oncol)

Value of Surgical Cytoreduction in Patients with Small Intestinal Neuroendocrine Tumors Metastatic to the Liver and Peritoneum
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with siNETs metastatic to both the liver and peritoneum have favorable outcomes after aggressive surgical cytoreduction, with the best outcomes observed after complete cytoreduction. Therefore, the presence of peritoneal metastases should not by itself preclude surgical cytoreduction in this population.PMID:38689169 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-024-15316-7 (Source: Ann Oncol)

Prognostic and Predictive Significance of Ki67 in Primary Non-metastatic or Recurrent Acral Melanoma: Evidence from a Multicenter Retrospective Study
CONCLUSIONS: A high Ki67 value was significantly associated with adverse pathological and prognostic features in both primary and recurrent AM cohorts. A plain language summary of the TROPHY-U-01 study: sacituzumab govitecan use in people with locally advanced or metastatic urothelial cancer
CONCLUSIONS REPORTED BY THE RESEARCHERS?: The study showed that sacituzumab govitecan had significant anti-cancer activity. Though most participants who received sacituzumab govitecan experienced side effects, these did not usually stop participants from continuing sacituzumab govitecan. Doctors can help control these side effects using treatment guidelines, but these side effects can be serious. Clinical Trial Registration: NCT03547973 (ClinicalTrials.gov) (TROPHY-U-1).PMID:38682560 | DOI:10.2217/fon-2023-1030 (Source: Ann Oncol)

The Role of Delirium on Short- and Long-Term Postoperative Outcomes Following Major Gastrointestinal Surgery for Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Postoperative delirium occurred in one in 50 patients undergoing surgical resection of a digestive tract cancer. Delirium was linked to a reduced likelihood of achieving an optimal postoperative outcome, increased ICU utilization, higher expenditures, and a worse long-term prognosis. Initiatives to prevent delirium are vital to improve postoperative outcomes among cancer surgery patients.PMID:38683304 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-024-15358-x (Source: Ann Oncol)
