Chronic non-bacterial osteomyelitis (CNO) and chronic recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis (CRMO) with a focus on pamidronate therapy
Biomed Pap Med Fac Univ Palacky Olomouc Czech Repub. 2024 Apr 27. doi: 10.5507/bp.2024.007. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTChronic recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis (CRMO), also called chronic nonbacterial osteomyelitis (CNO) or nonbacterial osteomyelitis (NBO), is a rare autoinflammatory bone disease of unknown etiology. However, the number of patients properly diagnosed would increase with better knowledge of the disease. In this regard, whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (WB MRI) has been found to be a better predictor of active lesions than clinical examination. Importantly, the RINBO index (radiologic index for NBO...

Influence of graft anastomosis and graft morphology on long-term patency of the saphenous vein after aortocoronary bypass
CONCLUSION: Sequential grafts can be constructed safely, especially when the goal is complete myocardial revascularization.PMID:38666413 | DOI:10.5507/bp.2024.013 (Source: Biomedical Papers of the Medical Faculty of the Univ Palacky Olomouc Czech Repub)

Challenges with hippocampal MR spectroscopy as a surrogate for pre-radiotherapy assessment of neurocognitive impairment in patients with brain metastasis
CONCLUSION: Borderline statistically significant correlations were observed with speculative interpretation underlying the challenges of hippocampal MRS as a surrogate for neurocognitive impairment. Further studies need to be done to ascertain the opportunities for imaging predictors of benefit from memory sparing radiotherapy.PMID:38623639 | DOI:10.5507/bp.2024.012 (Source: Biomedical Papers of the Medical Faculty of the Univ Palacky Olomouc Czech Repub)

Schwannoma of the phrenic nerve. A case report
CONCLUSIONS: Differential diagnosis of mediastinal tumours is very difficult; however, in the case of circumscribed tumours not invading the surrounding tissues, proceeding to surgical revision, with the complete removal of the tumour, is possible, even without determining the histological nature. Minimally invasive surgical techniques dominate the treatment of neurogenic tumors of the mediastinum; they are associated with minimal complications and allow a rapid return of the patient to their normal activities.PMID:38533732 | DOI:10.5507/bp.2024.011 (Source: Biomedical Papers of the Medical Faculty of the Univ Palacky Olomouc Czech Repub)
