Riding waves to improve functioning: a quantitative evaluation of a Surf Week in individuals with chronic phase brain injury with six months follow-up
CONCLUSIONS: A five-days Surf Week is a physically, cognitively and socially intensive stimulating activity that can positively challenge individuals after ABI and seems to improve physical functioning, functional balance performance and self-perceived recovery.PMID:38419367 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2024.2320265 (Source: Disability and Rehabilitation)

Spinal manipulation does not improve short-term pain and function in persons with painful shoulder: a systematic review with meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: HVLAT was not more effective than sham in improving pain and function at pre-post and at <4 days follow-up. When used as an "add-on technique", HVLAT did not improve pain nor disability.PMID:38420943 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2024.2322025 (Source: Disability and Rehabilitation)

Behaviour change and rehabilitation adherence in adults with tendinopathy: a scoping review
CONCLUSIONS: Further research should explore the impact of education on beliefs, fears, and pain-management, as well as the effectiveness of teaching habit formation for improved time-management. Implementing these behaviour change strategies may enhance tendinopathy rehabilitation adherence, improving clinical trial efficacy, guiding clinical practice, and impacting patient outcomes.Implications for rehabilitationEducation, instruction and use of an exercise diary (Psychological Capability), demonstration and monitoring of rehabilitation behaviour (Social Opportunity), and a time-efficient program with access to equipment...

Does aphasia impact on return to driving after stroke? A scoping review
CONCLUSIONS: The current evidence base is limited, inconsistent, and lacking in quality and recency and there is a lack of guidelines to support clinical practice. People with aphasia face barriers in returning to driving; however, it is unclear if aphasia affects fitness-to-drive post-stroke. Implications for rehabilitationPeople with aphasia, their caregivers and clinicians have identified return to driving as a top 10 research priority. We do not know if aphasia affects fitness-to-drive post-stroke, but communication difficulties can make the process of returning to driving more difficult.Speech pathologists have an impo...

Development, validity and reliability of patient perception of scoliosis-specific physiotherapy (physio-is) questionnaire
CONCLUSION: The Physio-IS is a valid and reliable tool for assessing AIS patients undergoing PSSE and helping physiotherapists identify aspects requiring more attention, thus facilitating intervention strategies, as knowing the patient's perception of their condition or treatment is fundamental to AIS treatment success.PMID:38411124 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2024.2322040 (Source: Disability and Rehabilitation)
