Quantitative evaluation of metamorphopsia with M-CHARTS ™ and evaluation of retinal morphologic changes by optical coherence tomography before and after pars plana vitrectomy in patients with idiopathic epiretinal membrane
CONCLUSION: A statistically significant preoperative thickness difference in the OCT parameters of the GCL+IPL (C) layer was associated with the quantitative metamorphopsia complaints of the patients. The thickness of the preoperative GCL+IPL (C) layer can be considered an important indicator of symptoms of metamorphopsia determining functional success after surgery.PMID:38701661 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfo.2024.104210 (Source: Journal Francais d Ophtalmologie)

Descemet's membrane endothelial keratoplasty rejection after SARS-COV2 infection or vaccination: 2-year retrospective study
CONCLUSION: Although the risk of endothelial graft rejection (EGR) associated with COVID-19 infection or vaccination appears to be extremely low, there may be a causative relationship, especially in patients with pre-existing risk factors for EGR. A temporary increase in anti-rejection treatment following COVID-19 infection or vaccination is recommended, especially in patients with pre-existing risk factors, along with closer monitoring during the subsequent 4 to 8 weeks.PMID:38696860 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfo.2024.104117 (Source: Journal Francais d Ophtalmologie)

Clinical features, diagnosis, treatment, and course of ocular sarcoidosis with or without uveitis: A retrospective, comparative study
CONCLUSION: In this population in Southern France, uveitis was the most common presentation of ocular sarcoidosis. The type of ocular sarcoidosis does not appear to be correlated with the type of systemic manifestations, use of systemic therapy, or visual prognosis, but patients with non-uveitic ocular sarcoidosis appear to have a better course with fewer recurrences on treatment and more remission than patients with uveitic ocular sarcoidosis.PMID:38696861 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfo.2024.104153 (Source: Journal Francais d Ophtalmologie)

A randomized study of subconjonctival bevacizumab (Avastin ®) injection for corneal neovascularization
CONCLUSION: This study shows the efficacy of subconjunctival bevacizumab injection in the reduction of neovascularized corneal surface area versus placebo, but only when the neovascularization has been present less than 1year. Nevertheless, the study did not attain the statistical power to pass the threshold of significance.PMID:38696862 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfo.2024.104152 (Source: Journal Francais d Ophtalmologie)

Alterations of lacrimal sac vasculature in lacrimal disorders: Chromo endoscopic assessment with changes in effective spectral response
CONCLUSION: The present study found distinct alterations of lacrimal sac vasculature in several lacrimal drainage disorders and provides impetus to the vascular theory for pathogenesis of PANDO.PMID:38696863 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfo.2024.104133 (Source: Journal Francais d Ophtalmologie)

Ophthalmic presentation and outcomes of rhino-orbito-cerebral mucormycosis during the COVID-19 pandemic: An 18-month follow-up report
CONCLUSION: Based upon common factors among the COVID-19-associated ROCM patients, we presume that DM and drug-induced immunosuppression are two main factors, which may lead to a higher rate of ROCM infection in areas where fungal spores are more likely to be present, such as hospitals.PMID:38696866 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfo.2024.104139 (Source: Journal Francais d Ophtalmologie)
