Insights into the October 2023 Issue of the JOE
The narrative review by Lerdrungroj et al., explored the clinical management of dens evaginatus (DE). The current authors performed a comprehensive search in prevalence, prophylaxis and management of DE (1). Two hundred sixty-four articles met the eligibility criteria. DE has a prevalence of 0.5-6.3%, with a probability of a genetic predisposition. It is most commonly seen in mandibular premolars, though it may develop in all tooth types. Teeth with normal pulp and reversible pulpitis should be restored with a bonded material to reinforce pulpal vitality. (Source: Journal of Endodontics)

Investigating In situ Expression of Neurotrophic Factors and Partner Proteins in Irreversible Pulpitis
In situ assessments of neurotrophic factors and their associated molecular partners have not been explored to date particularly in humans. The present investigation aims to explore the expressional dysregulation of neurotrophic factors (NGF, BDNF and NT4/5), their receptors (TrkA and TrkB) and their modulators (USP36 and Nedd4-2) directly in irreversibly inflamed human pulp tissues. Prevalence of and factors associated with vertical root fracture in a Japanese population: an observational study on teeth with isolated periodontal probing depth
This study examined teeth with an isolated periodontal probing depth (PD) as an indicator of VRF. The primary aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of vertical root fracture (VRF) and non-VRF among teeth with an isolated probing depth (PD) ≥ 5 mm, the secondary aim was to assess factors associated with VRF by comparing the teeth with and without VRF in the Japanese population. Diagnosis of Odontogenic Maxillary Sinusitis by Cone-beam Computed Tomography: A Critical Review
This review aims to provide an up-to-date overview of the current applications of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and other imaging modalities in diagnosing odontogenic maxillary sinusitis (OMS). Furthermore, the clinical operation procedures of radiography modalities in OMS diagnosis were summarized, with the goal of assisting clinicians in improving OMS diagnostic accuracy in clinical practice. A Survey on Cone-beam Computed Tomography Usage Among Endodontists in the United States
The aim of the study was to investigate the accessibility and frequency of cone-beam computed tomography usage (CBCT) and to assess the economic and logistical factors involved with its usage among active American Association of Endodontists (AAE) members, utilizing a web-based survey. Long-Term Clinical and Radiographic Observation of Previously Regenerated Treated Incisors Subjected to Orthodontic Movement. A Case Series.
With an increasing number of anterior traumatized teeth treated with REPs nowadays, orthodontic movement of such teeth is expected to become a common scenario in everyday clinical practice. However, little is known about the clinical implications and the response capacity of regenerated tissues to orthodontic forces. The aim of this clinical article was to report on four cases of REP-treated immature anterior permanent teeth subjected to orthodontic forces, and to describe the long-term response of the regenerated apical and intracanal tissues. Symptomatic Irreversible Pulpitis induces increased levels of human NLRP3 in gingival crevicular fluid compared to Saliva- a case control observational study
The goal of this case-control observational study was to compare the levels of the human nucleotide-binding domain, leucine-rich repeat, and pyrin domain-containing-3 (NLRP3) protein in the saliva and gingival crevicular fluid of patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis (SIP) and healthy controls.
