Author: Diary of a Quitter Posted: Sun Aug 23, 2009 10:00 pm Hi Chris, welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, I don't have any firsthand experience with switching from methadone to suboxone. I have heard Dr. Junig say that 30mgs of Methadone is an ok dose to switch from. Anything higher and the sub wouldn't be strong enough to keep you out of withdrawal. I also don't know about the weight. I have heard people say they've gained weight on sub. I gained about 15 pounds...but that's probably because I didn't eat when I was on my DOC. I guess it's likely that everyone...

Comment: When I switched to suboxone, I was shooting up 150mg of Methadone a day using 22 guage needles(the ones in the central tractor vet section). I felt fine after the first half hour after taking the 8mg sub. Then all a sudden I was shitting, pissing, and puking at the same time. I lied to the Doc. about what mg of methadone I was on cuz I ran out of my two week supply of methadone in 4 days and I didn't want to get too sick to work. The highest they want you to switch is 40mg, I totally see why that is. Then next day I tried to get my script of subs and they ran out. So I was screwed, but eventually I got them later that day. I was sick for 4 days until the subs started to work. Now its been 2yrs on subs, I tried to quit until I learned you can free base them on foil. The opiods should be taking properly. I eventually started to piss blood from the meth. and now my penis dosen't work as well with the subs. I'm losing about 12lbs a month since this past year. So listen to the directions or your body will go to shit. Oh, shooting meth. and smoking subs will make it hard to get off them.....and hurt your penis, sex drive, urine stream, and taking shits.
