Nata Village along with Sua Secondary School Health Club and Nata Primary School were able to draw and paint to Murals educating their community on staying health and knowing their status. Both Sua Secondary School and Nata Primary School worked hard putting this event together. The students hope the message will hit home with their Mural education. The students will continue to educate their community and travelers with more Murals on the A3 road that passes through their community.

I’ve blurred out this fellow’s face and name as I do not want to propagate what the main stream media has been doing.
I’m certainly in agreement that one should always talk about one’s status if they are going to engage in unprotected sex.
However, there is a much larger picture here.
First of all all of these cases are one’s word against another. There are only two people in the world who know exactly what happened here and those are the two having sex.
The only way to know for sure that this happened is if the guy tested positive and they could match up a genotype or some other kind of tes...

Once I’m there it’s not a big deal, but all that mental build up and bartering that goes in my head. It’s kind of one of the stages you goe through before you die, “Bartering”

This morning I take the dogs out for the morning pees and poos in the little parkette right beside my building.
The first outing of the day I’m never social, I’m barely awake and may or may not have had my morning coffee. With a 2.4 pound dog, I try my best to stay away from people.
Today I was unsuccesful. And older woman leaning on her walker smoking a cigarrette greets me as I enter the park. Her dog, a small white poodle wearing a t-shirt, Honey, is running around her walker.
Strategically I steer off to the side of the grassed area to be as far away as possible.
Moments later, in an Edith Massey voice hors...

Time 2:19
Flight AC268 takes off in less than an hour. I’m sitting just off where my gate is where they’ve made a little observation area where it is quiet and you can see the very odd aircraft take off.
I sit here thinking about how many departures I’ve made from this airport. How many times have I said good-bye. How many times where they for a weekend, a week, months or years. Was it to another city 500 kms away, or was it to another continent.
Leaving this airport was never a difficult thing, although in older age it becomes more difficult. If there were some way that I could meld the life of Toronto, and my famil...

New outfit for Hildy
Today I’m finally heading back home. And I can’t tell you how much I want to go get home. Not because I’m tired of seeing my family. But rather because of the lack of control over my coming and goings, especially being woken up in the morning
I thought if I spent a longer period of time here the pace would be a bit more relaxed. And at times it has been, but when you’ve lived with a chronic illness for over two decades the slighest deviation of my routine, in particular, sleep patterns.
Two screaming girls this morning didn’t help.
What I realized is that I really need a c...

The money raised each year by AIDS Walk Boston supports a diverse and far-reaching range of programs and services. Here’s a snapshot of a typical day at AIDS Action Committee, to show the many ways AAC provides care for over 2,500 clients and reaches out to thousands of others in the community.
9:15 a.m. A client’s neighbors have become violent and threatening because of his perceived sexual orientation, and extreme anxiety is affecting his health. His client advocate and the Rental Start-Up Program Coordinator begin the process of finding him a new apartment and providing first and last months’ rental costs, to ensu...

Strange the names we give to bits of stuff we collect that fills the shelves of curio cabinets, bookcases and cocktail tables; chatzka, bric-a-brac, whatnot, nick nack, whatchumacallits, hoo-hahs.I got rid of most of the boxes of whatnots and hoo-hahs I collected in my travels, but still have a bunch if little cat nick nacks scattered around the apartment.I rode the bus into Harvard Square today. You see so much more sitting on the bus, where you can peer out the window, which is harder and more hazardous to do while driving. As bad as the economy is, more and more upscale yuppie hoo-hah shops seem to be opening up. One st...

The other night my sister and I headed over to my father’s place. I’d have to say that it’s probably been at fifteen or more years since we were all in the same room together.
My dad in on the left, and my Uncle Gord is on the right. My sister Melissa, and brother Derrick are there as well.
This is the side of the family I get my crudeness from. My mother’s side is much more proper. So much so that it takes a Snuggie gift war to crack that pent up repression.
Once the beers started flowing, Dad and Uncle Gord went for a walk down memory lane.
Uncle Gord: You remember when we’d shit in a bag, set it on fire and le...

It’s been a hectic time, which is one of the reasons why I don’t come back to Winnipeg often.
If there is one thing I can say, is that I do miss having that sense of family around me. I guess I have it in a sense in Toronto, but it’s not the same. Nonetheless, I will never have this as if I ever saw my name attached again to a Winnipeg address – I’d have to kill myself.
It’s just too bad that the city isn’t located the distance away as London, or Ottawa, just to make them all more accessible.
Easter Sunday we picked up my young 90-year-old grandmother to go to what seems the be the family institution for dini...

The results are in, and it’s good news for microbicides development, as well as for prevention advocates around the globe. At this year’s Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI), researchers presented promising data on a candidate microbicide known as PRO 2000, showing that women who used the gel had a 30% reduction in HIV transmission.
Microbicides are experimental substances designed to prevent or reduce the likelihood of HIV transmission and often other sexually transmitted infections. Microbicides are applied vaginally or anally, prior to sex. These substances will hopefully one day provi...
