Well it looks like the shit is hitting the fan. Let the chips fall where they may fall. Quite awhile ago after becoming so annoyed with one online person I decided that I was not going to get into internet spatting as it’s really a waste of time. There are somethings I have to stand up for, and I’ve decided that this is one of them. So as Jean-Paul Sartre says, Les Jeux sont faits. I’ve set off a grenade. So if anyone finds me laying somewhere dead with my head razored off with a overly sharpened Home Depot Gift Card, you’ll know why. Increasingly as well, my older dog, well she’s getting olde...

My friend Florence has reminded me once again why we are so close in spirit. She shared yet another video with me this morning. This one was so touching that I felt compelled to share it with you.In this video written, directed and produced by Alonso Alvarez Barreda, please note that the sign reads, in equivalent language, more or less, "Have Compassion, I am Plind" as a misspelling of the word "Blind". Watch for the twist at the end. What did you expect? How did you react to the ending? How can you alter your world in a similar way?Click here to view the video.Categories: video Alonso+Alvarez+Barreda Historia+de+un+letrero Story+of+a+Sign

Understanding the Issues: The Candidates on HIV/AIDS Todd Heywood on September 29, 2008 - 8:00am Todd Heywood’s blog While both candidates for president have made statements that they want to combat HIV/AIDS, a comparison of the voting records, public statements and other actions shows John McCain has very few specifics to address the crisis and has a history of supporting legislation that damages and impedes the process of addressing the HIV epidemic in America. First, here are what Barack Obama and John McCain, respectively, have said about the HIV/AIDS crisis in general statements: “We are all sick bec...

C. diff: The cure for antibiotic abuse Posted by Paul Sax on September 18th, 2008 . . . Human beings love antibiotics — all of us are guilty of this love affair, health care providers and patients alike. (This is a great cartoon!) My first introduction to this phenomenon was during a medicine rotation in medical school, when my esteemed attending obviously had a bad cold. After a particularly noisy round of sneezing (and what was he doing in the hospital, one might wonder), I asked him how he was holding up. He told me the cold was fine, but the nausea from the erythromycin he’d started himself on “just in case” ...

Yes, I was on the losing end of a night of low-stakes poker. I know it's a risky move with the ecomony on a downturn, and uncertainty as to whether or not the bailout will appease the mighty appetite of the U.S. and World economies... Early 1990's Bonoemail this articleEmail this article to a colleague. save this article to My ClippingsSave this article to My Clippings. discuss this articleDiscuss or comment on this article.
Was in Target tonight, and found a jacket on the ladies discount rack: I immediately thought of Bono from the early 1990's, and am thinking he might make a good Halloween costume? Shawno as Bono for Halloween 2008? These were sunglasses Gwenn happened to have in her purse. I'd need a wig and someone to go as my wingman for the evening, The Edge. Oh yeah, I'd need somewhere to go on Halloween night as well, since I'm thinking Early 90's Bono might scare off the trick or treaters. Maybe dressing up as Early 90's Bono is a plan better suited for Bella Morte's CD Release party on October 4? Synthetic Division landed the o...

I’m on the board of my co-op, and my little neurotic pooch Buster comes with me to help out. Last night I decided to grab a couple photos of him giving us some advice on the issues of the day, and if we should proceed with evictions or not. He loves attending, as we have dinner before we start. He makes the rounds mooching, and then afterwards, he turns into a complete lap whore taking turns hopping on an off everyones lap. For him, it’s the closest thing he’s come to an orgy. Buster sits here looking out at as all as we take up the business of the day. So I thought I take a couple shots of him at work ...

Solar Keratosis is a skin disease that attacks light skin people in Botswana. Albino people living Botswana have it hard when it comes to medications for their skin disease, especially if you live in small villages with little or no medical access. With no transportation and money it is very difficult for a person to seek treatment. Natavillage has one case of Solar Keratosis; This young lady has suffered a lot growing up with Solar Keratosis. Being out in the sun is dangerous for her. With your donations we are able to send her to the city and seek professional help with a specialist.

Californians Against Hate (cah) was established to draw attention to the major donors to the Yes on Proposition 8 campaign. These contributors are spending tens of millions of dollars to amend the California Constitution to take away the right of same-sex couples to marry. If our opponents want to end equality for gays and lesbians, then we will fight back. We will let the world know who these donors are, and then our millions of friends and allies can decide if they want to support their businesses or not. A version of this article appeared in print on September 19, 2008, on page A19 of the New York Times. Blocking Care for Women By HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON and CECILE RICHARDS Published: September 18, 2008 LAST month, the Bush administration launched the latest salvo in its eight-year campaign to undermine women’s rights and women’s health by placing ideology ahead of science: a proposed rule from the Department of Health and Human Services that would govern family planning. It would require that any health care entity that receives federal financing — whether it’s a physician in private practice, a hospital or a st...

Once in a while Marvel Comics will freak people out with a series called "What If". "Due to their nature, stories presented in the What If format were allowed to break the rules of the characters' respective series that kept the status quo intact; major characters could be (and often were) killed off in the alternate realities, and many stories were based on the premise of a particular Marvel superhero, upon gaining/discovering his or her special abilities, choosing a life of crime instead." - Wikipedia For instance, a few of the What If stories tackled such mind-boggling scenarios as: What if the world knew Daredevil was...

I’m feeling a little sad. Not for me personally, I just watched the last fifteen minutes of America’s Next Top Model. There’s nothing like Tyra breaking the bad news to bring a tear in the eye. Today marks my 1.5 day. That’s my own sort of anniversary of a year and a half of no drugs or alcohol. Last night I celebrated it by having an ice cream cone from Basket & Robins on Church St. and shopping at Rabba after 11pm. I know its pretty wild and crazy.
