Pot Roast! Potatoes! Carrots!
Helen was searing a pot roast on the stove around lunch today which bode promising. It looked so delicious and smelled wonderful. I was at my parents house to get my six Cokes for the day. About 4:00 Helen pulled up in front of my house honking her horn and delivering the meal. We exchanged pleasantries and I hurried back inside to eat an absolutely fantastic supper.

Weary and So Very Worried…
I’ve seen Maggie scratch her ear some during the past few weeks, but I never dreamed she had such a terrible yeast infection in her ear like she has now. I feel like such a terrible, terrible lout of a pet owner for not catching that. I was growing suspicious yesterday when it got to be around 4pm in the afternoon and the Veterinary Technician still hadn’t called me yet to come pick Maggie up. I took the initiative and called the Vet Tech. She gave me the terrible news about Maggie's infected ear. Maggie will be at the Animal Clinic until about Monday or Tuesday as they administer antibiotics. I am already...

An Allergy With the Tiniest of all Culprits…
I was sitting at my favorite computer terminal in the computer lab a moment ago anxiously waiting for a call from my mother. The phone finally buzzed on the table and I quickly answered in high anticipation. I had set my hopes high and needed good news. I walked outside through the fire door to continue the call. “I got Maggie out to the Vet’s office,” Mom said of my precious pup. Mom sounded like she was out of breath and probably was if she had to hold Maggie for any length of time. “Her allergy is caused by fleas. They are going to flea dip her this afternoon. Doctor Thomas says to let you or me put on the...

Taking Things Lightly…
There was a men’s hair growth commercial on the TV last night as Charlie and my father sat in the den watching TV along with me. Charlie was lamenting the fact that he ever sold me this house. “I just love this house,” he said sounding pained. I was watching Dr. Drew as I do most nights before going to bed. The commercial that come on was a highly dubious “hair in a can” hair growth method like spray on hair. “Why didn’t you ever use or try Rogaine?” my father boldly asked Charlie about his bald and slightly sunburned dome. “Baldness is my trademark,” Charlie then said with a smirk as we all broke out...

That Charlie. Yes! THAT Charlie…
“Gather up all your dirty clothes,” Charlie told me insistently last night. “We will get a load of clothes going in the laundry room before we leave.” “He dresses like a poor person and a homeless man!” you could my father ardently and loudly say from the den where he had Maggie captivated. “You only see me at home,” I said in rebuke of my father. “I wear khaki pants, Sebagos, and a nicely ironed button up shirt to volunteering everyday.” During all of this, I called my mother to check Maggie’s flea medications to see if they had expired. I finally got Maggie in my lap yesterday and finally fou...

Ralph…
Maggie in her alter ego schizoid highly antagonistic mode known simply as “Ralph”. Where did my sweet princess go? Remember last Christmas? It was the only Christmas day that it has snowed here in my lifetime this far south. I actually got to use the All Wheel Drive option that exists on my car for one of the first times. Helen called me an hour ago to ask if I wanted to eat lunch with her and mom. They were having potato chips and tomato and bacon sandwiches. “You do what you want to do, baby,” Helen said. “But come over if you get hungry.”...

I Have Long Resisted the Urge
Tuesday - Entry 4:
When I began offering a donation button on my blog, I had mixed feelings. I have long resisted the urge to load my blog with ads, yet with work being so spotty this year my blog was the only resource I had that was working for me. With 200-300 unique visitors a day, up to 9000 individuals a month, I figured a buck here and there from donations might help.
Two weekends ago we were struggling with an issue. I had just started a freelance job but the paychecks hadn't started rolling in yet. And when they did start rolling in, it wasn't going to be enough. I had rent coming up, bills due, and my children ...

Still No Friends
Maybe I've posted this before, I don't know. But I don't feel like I have anything in common with my old friends. And I don't feel like I have much in common with the people I go to school with now. So who does that leave me to be friends with? No one. I'm not saying I have to have *everything* in common with someone to be friends with, but just the very foundation, just the basics, you know? I don't have kids, but virtually all women my age have kids at some age and, well, I must admit, it has changed them. For the better, for the worse - they would say for the better, of course.&...

Dear Ed,
As the Labour Party conference approaches, I ask that you consider the following.
I have now sent to you three letters via e-mail. I have appealed on behalf of thousands of sick and disabled people – and their loved ones – in our country.
You have responded to one letter but not the following two. This is troubling and, not least, because the
last e-mail contained information that alarmed me. It was a reader’s comment sent care of the Daily Mail website.
To the many who have now seen this comment, there was no doubt that here was a clear intention to co...

‘This Smile I Wear’ by Dawni. #ukmh #depression #mentalhealth
This Smile I Wear
This smile on my face,
Helps you decide my personality
You’ve correctly compiled.
That smile on my face,
When we laughed and talked
You were easily beguiled.
This smile on my face,
Sweet charming mask born of
Terrified small child.
This smile on my face,
Just a well practiced disguise in
A world exiled.
This smile on my face,
You’ve cleverly judged decided
Yet mistakenly profiled.
This smile on face,
My well-worn cloak a polished veneer
In a life defiled.

5:10 am
I’ve got a delicious Marie Callendar chicken parmesiana meal in the microwave at the moment. I am waiting for the finish beeps and for the microwave to finish. It smells wonderful. It is about the best darn meal Marie makes. Maggie urgently woke me up barking like a crazy mad dog this morning. I was also just ravishingly hungry this morning for some reason as well. I went and turned on all the outside flood lights and Maggie seems to have calmed down some. Ah, life living with a diminutive guard dog who thinks she is as big as a great Dane. Went you are awakened from a deep sleep like that it can be a little...

Lazy Dogs Lay Sleeping…
I keep the blinds tightly shut and the curtains drawn during the day in my back bedroom. It is cool and dark back there. Maggie takes advantage of it during my day of volunteering to sleep and stay comfortable. It really is a very inviting place to be. She will always greet me at the door when I get home, but she quickly goes back to her comfortable lair amidst the covers on my bed. “Yeah,” I told Maggie a moment ago as I brought in some groceries from the Honda through the front door, “You keep me up all night barking and then crash all day.” Maggie just stood there innocently wagging her tail. She wo...

Nothing more and nothing less
Since I wrote the other day, things have been ok. I had an enjoyable weekend. I even managed to convince Hubby to take me on a date. It's really nice to spend time with him one-on-one. I think part of expects there to be a bit more romance. No, not really romance, but somehow more. I'm not sure that makes sense. I guess a part of me worries about what we will take about when the boys are gone and
