Starting to panic. Really need advice.
Hi everyone,
So, I am an applicant this cycle. I am really starting to panic due to my current cycle results....1 Interview Invite and 8 Rejections. and 2 holds...This is crazy. I don't know what is it about my application that is making me so "unlikable" by medical schools. I hope people who are knowledgeable can give me some feedback.

DO Chances for a competitive applicant interviewing in December?
How unlikely is it that someone will be accepted if they interview in December? 3.6 cGPA, balanced 26 MCAT, 2 years research, 1/2 of MPH, two summers in Africa. My AACOMAS primary will be released to ten schools tomorrow. Thanks guys. (Source: Student Doctor Network Forums)

Would volunteering in South Africa make much of a difference to my UCAS application?
I've just started Y12, and I've found out that my college is running a sort of volunteer trip to South Africa this summer. I'd love to go on it, it's just that it costs £1800, which is obviously a heck of a lot of money. Sometimes I forget how lucky I am, and tbh I feel like I need something like this to open my eyes a bit - I don't just want to go as some kind of misguided attempt to buy my way into medical school
Because it's so much and I've got 2 sisters, I'd have to raise at least £1000, possibly more, myself, by getting a job. As much as I'd like to do it, it's gotta be paid for by March, and I'd have to do a lot ...

*****Official Peds Interview Invite/Rejection Thread 2012-2013*****
OK, so if we're lucky maybe we'll start hearing from programs this week... so figured it was time to go ahead and start this thread :)
Here's how they've done it the past few years...feel free to add any improvements if you wish:
1) Keep the list in the body when you reply
2) Please sort alphabetically by state
3) Try to say what school/program you are adding in the subject line
4) It would be helpful if the person who FIRST adds a program could also include the date they received their invite.
Please include these instructions when you quote - And quote the last list available!

Ireland: EU family member from EU med school
Hi All,
I am new to this forum and found this forum very helpful. I have searched other posts related to my question on this forum but unfortunately there are no detailed information regarding my issue.
So here are my details and question:
I am an African citizen happily married to an EU citizen and about to finish my Internship from Hungary. After I graduate, we plan to move to Ireland :luck: to start my career as a doctor. As I am a family member of EU national, i fall into the same category as an EU national would.
I have checked HSE website, Ireland :luck: and couldn't find any job at the moment for junior doctors....

I'm a 3rd-year at University of Queensland. Here are pros/cons of the program:
I'm a third-year at UQ and am one of the three Americans (40 total) in my cohort who's not in Ochsner (i.e. I'm doing the full degree in Australia).
Cons:
The teaching here during the first two years is not satisfactory. That's just my opinion. There are plenty who are content with the program, but I also think most people are just oblivious or myopic as it is.
I expected a lot more hands-on anatomy/histology assessment during my first-year, and the program severely lacks that. The written assessment is also very minimal (equivalent to my undergrad university's physiology exams) such that many who pass still don't know ...

Advice for an Arts graduate beginner, if you'd be so kind :)
Hi everyone,
I've been scouring these forums for about 6 months now, and I can't deal with the denial any more! I was hoping the desire to do medicine would fade, as the road seems so long and arduous. However, I really do think it's what I want to do, and it's time to make a plan - and your advice would be amazing :)
I have an English degree (starred First, top 10 uni) and am going to do my Master's (with a full scholarship) at Oxford next year. I applied for this last September, whilst still in the denial stage! However, I do enjoy English still, it is fascinating and I'm not going to turn down the opportunity to go to...
