SMP, Post-bac, or PA School, and Advice for Very Likely Re-applicant
Here's my info: cGPA - 3.45 sGPA - 3.35 (as calculated by AMCAS) MCAT - 32L (BS: 12, PS: 10, VR: 10, WS: L) The low WR was likely a result of me not finishing either sample, as I am generally a very strong writer; I was on the last paragraph for both samples. No Height/Weight + Allergies = No Meds
Just wondering how other hospitals deal with this annoying issue. Almost every day a nurse runs over from the ER looking for a drug that is not in the Pyxis and they often come without a filled out height/weight/allergy sheet, sometimes without an order even. I usually send them back to the ER to gather the information and then dispense the drugs. The most lenient I've been was on a Levophed drip where I picked the dose, wrote the order for the doctor while it was being administered and had the doctor sign off on the order after. Hey guys, so I am a current undergrad sophomore, Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology major. I have a 3.7 gpa. I was wondering if my microbiology course load contains all of the pre-med requirements as it doesnt require 'general (ecology/evolutionary) bio". To meet my degree requirements I take 12 credits of Microbiology 4 of Genetics 6 of advanced cell bio and some immunology and other fun stuff later. I also will have taken all of the O-chem and Physics and Gen Chem.. Im just worried that not having to take "general bio" would get in the way even though I am a biology major.... thoughts?? Medicine vs. Pediatrics
Hey guys, Wanted to ask your opinion on medicine vs. peds. I just recently finished both my medicine and peds rotations and they have been my favorite rotations thus far, but I wanted some advice, particularly from those who have gone through the process, of deciding between the two. I'm hoping to go into either adult heme/onc or peds heme/onc; I also am considering immunology and ID. Overall, I think that medicine is more interesting in terms of the analytical approach coming up with a differential but I generally like working more with kids. After thinking a lot about it, I've come up with the following assessment: ...

Double Majoring Semi-Relative to MCAT/Overall Grades
As a high school senior applying to about 7 colleges, I'm looking a little bit forward to majors. I've been reading around and after putting quite a bit of thought into it, I'm liking the idea of double majoring. Of course, with every decision I make, there are always some consequences. Here's 2 Double Majors that I've compiled: Biology + Psychology: + Biology, the core of what I want to study. Has everything I want to study and a good range of Bio electives that I've had a taste of in high school: Immunology, Virology, Microbial Pathogenesis. This coupled with the ability to understand the human brain through the use of...

I've just failed my UKCAT(second time,same grade)

urgent care billing to medicare/medicare and private insurance
Anyone knows how much a doc in an urgent care clinic can bill private insurance (bcbs/kaiser/etc) and medicare/medicaid for things like colds/flu/sore throats/allergies/asthma, sprains/lacerations, pains/aches/GI, and the rest of non-emergent illnesses? These non-emergent illnesses can be taken care of in 15 mins or less. Are prices like $90-100 per patient seem reasonable? Medicare will probably pay like 80% and private insurance may pay up to %120. I'm collecting and confirming data.
