Franklin, Tenn.-based Acadia Healthcare Inc. has purchased Delta Medical Center, a 243-bed hospital located at 3000 Getwell Road.

Acadia buys Memphis facility
Franklin-based Acadia Healthcare Company (NASDAQ: ACHC) has purchased Delta Medical Center in Memphis, according to a news release.

Tennessee's health insurance exchange guru leaving post
The health reform expert in charge of setting up Tennessee’s insurance exchange is leaving his post today, a spokesman for the state Department of Heath Care Finance and Administration confirmed.

State senators back ban on Medicaid expansion
Nearly half of the Tennessee Senate has signed on to a bill that would ban Tennessee from expanding TennCare, its Medicaid program, as envisioned under the Affordable Care Act, WPLN 90.3 FM reports.

Next-generation CT scanner provides better images with minimal radiation
A new computed tomography (CT) scanner substantially reduces potentially harmful radiation while still improving overall image quality. National Institutes of Health researchers, along with engineers at Toshiba Medical Systems, worked on the scanner. An analysis of data on 107 patients undergoing heart scans found that radiation exposure was reduced by as much as 95 percent compared to the range of current machines, while the resulting images showed less blurriness, reduced graininess, and greater visibility of fine details.
