Looking for advice on where to go from here
As the title suggests, I am looking for the forum's thoughts on where I should focus my efforts. A bit about myself:
Late twenties (for context)
Employed as a consultant (also for context)
BS Biomedical Engineering (where I took my prerequisites almost a decade ago)
MBA (foreign university, thesis based)
3.5 cGPA
3.2 sGPA
33O (10 VR, 12 PS, 11 BS) MCAT
Little recent clinical volunteering experience though starting in an ER this month (volunteered in a hospital for a few months in college and for a couple of years in high school circa turn of the millennium)
Two years of research experience in college (no publications)
Have...

How to convince the same medical school second time around?
Hi All!
My name is Mike and I always wanted to get into med school. My background is Electrical and Biomedical Engineering and I am currently working as an electrical engineer. A year and a half ago I have applied for both med school and law school. Unluckily, med school did not accept me but I got accepted to part-time law school instead. I am on my second year of law school now but I am also trying to get into med school as it was always my biggest interest. If med school continues to not accept me I may end up working as a patent lawyer for medical devices.
I am very good in my university biomedical courses and have b...

Advice for critical point
Alright guys,
Take a look at what I got. Then I'll go over the dilemma
Mediocre liberal arts college
uGPA: 3.2
sciGPA: 3.2
2 years volunteering service
After Bachelors, did UCSD Extension, took 46 units in one year (biochem, neuro, immuno, human phys, mol bio, etc), got a 3.2 while working part-time (probably shouldn't have worked part-time in retrospect). I got 2 Cs during extension work.
Leadership: I founded two health organizations, one international, one local for URMs (I'm a URM). I still advise one. There are other accomplishments but I feel like I say more someone from my school may identify me haha.

4 letters of recommendation PRIORITY thread/
PharmCAS allows submission of 4 letters of recommendation.
My scenario...
1. I have a pharmacist from the CVS I work at writing #1.
2. I have a Dr. in biology, who taught me microbiology writing me #2
-My question is about #3 and #4...
-FIRST, for the remaining two recommendations i have a few options, and i want to prioritize the best way i can. I volunteer in a hospital pharmacy, but i only started just recently, is it appropriate to ask for a recommendation from someone there, and if so who and how? I can get a letter from a physics professor I took 3 classes with who holds a master in biomedical engineering, and also ...

Graduate student pre-med with a douche PI
Hello all,
I am a 2nd year (almost 3rd year) graduate student in a MS/PhD program for Biomedical engineering and I am having issues with my advisor. Its been going on for a while that I just dont feel he fits my personality and the project I'm doing isn't interesting me. He has told me he isn't happy with my progress, and to an extent he is correct. I haven't been doing as much as I want, but I am bogged down with 2 classes and a disc herniation that flares up from time to time. I try not to use this as an excuse and I make sure I have something for him to look at every week, but this isn't enough for him.
I don't know i...

MD Am I being too arrogant?
I am graduating from Case Western Reserve University this Sunday and going to Switzerland next year for a Fullbright Fellowship. I will be applying to medical school this cycle so that I can matriculate in 2013 after the Fellowship.
Considering I will be overseas it will be very expensive for me to fly back to the USA for a lot of interviews hence I will only be applying to a small number of select schools and try to minimize my interview trips to 1 or at most 2 (hopefully I can swing some during the christmas holidays where I have 2 weeks of time off built in).
I feel comfortable doing this because of my exemplary acade...

Where to start for GAMSAT?!
Hi everyone,I am currently studying Biomedical Engineering and in process to apply for GEM 2013:D. Does anyone have any suggestion where to start for GAMSAT? I have searched through different websites but I want to get it right and not just mess around. So please suggest which books you ve got to prepare for GAMSAT. I know The Gold Standard book but I am not sure if this is the right one to get. I be very much grateful if you could pass any suggestions about GAMSAT test and how to prepare for it. Tanx :) oh one more question, is it only once that I can take GAMSAT ? Nature of RadOnc research
I am an undergraduate student who is planning on pursuing an MD/PhD after I graduate and I had some questions regarding the type of research that Radiation Oncologists do.
I am a biomedical engineering student and I primarily joined BME because I liked the fusion of technology in medicine as well as using math and physics in medicine. Although I enjoy my major, I have affirmed that I am less interested in the engineering of the equipment and more interested in the use of such tech with patient care and I far prefer interacting with patients. I have shadowed in a number of different specialties (IM, Family, Peds) but my f...

HELP!! Canadian Applicant to UK!!!
Hi, all.
I'm currently a grade 11 student from Toronto, ON, who's applying to the universities that are on my signature.
Currently I've been prepping for the UKCAT through Jobtestprep.co.uk and the 600Q book. I feel really discouraged now, as I've been trying and trying and all I receive is a poor score... especially for those Jobtestprep.co.uk tests... however, for 600Q questions, I do pretty well.
When I do the jobpreptest timed tests, I get 6/10s for almost all the section... I don't know if I should be okay with the score or not. Any advices/comments?
My overall avg. for grade 11 was 92%. I got:
- 97 for B...

MD Need everyones thoughts and opinions!
Hi all,
I attended Drexel University for two years before they dismissed me following a long-term failure to accommodate my ADA registered disability. The Dept. of Education and Human Resource Commission are both investigating my allegations and both agencies agree that the final remedies will be in my favor. In the meantime, I am left with a failing cumulative GPA, a dismissal on my transcript and the inability to transfer to an equivalent university. Therefore, until these investigations are finalized my only option for the next academic year is to attend community college..
I am currently dealing with a m...

Is it worth applying to Oxford for medicine?
Hello... I know that these are the most awful posts which every one does, but it's really distressing me. I want to go to Oxford more than anything else, but after work experience at a hospital and Medlink I found that I loved it so much I now have an ambition to do medicine. However, I do not know whether it would be worth applying for medicine AT Oxford, because I'm not exactly top of my year. I could do biomedical sciences. but then regret not doing medicine, or I could do medicine, but regret not having a chance at Oxbridge!!
Here's a little about me...

MD Should I retake Orgo I & II, and chance me for UMaryland! Thanks!
Hi all,
I was wondering if I should bother re-taking Orgo I and II before I apply to medical school. I know all my grades are quite mediocre, but I'm still crossing my fingers and applying to a few schools (including my state school). I'm hoping I can get into University of Maryland (in-state), its my top choice, so feel free to comment on my ability to get in there.
I'm a Biomedical Engineering and Electrical Engineering double major at Johns Hopkins University.
Considering getting the combined BS/MSE in BME at JHU.

General Chemistry Lab: B

Torn Between Decisions
I am truly torn between Biomedical Engineering (Or any engineering profession in general) and Pharmacy. The reason I am having such difficulty choosing is because if I apply to Pharmacy I want to have a solid back-up degree to fall back on if I don't succeed in getting accepted into Pharmacy school. But, it seems like some of the degree options are not ones that I would like (such being biology, chemistry, etc..) Has anyone else been in this certain predicament? I am a freshman at University and it is frustrating because I don't want to take lightweight classes while im trying to make this decision... (Source: Student Doctor Network Forums)

What are my chances? Please help!
Hello all!
Please help me out here, what do y'all think my chances are? I'm pretty nervous because of my low GPA. Below is a concise 'resume'...if you need more info just ask :) I am a junior at Duke, so my science GPA is my projected GPA for the end of this semester, presumed that I keep the same grades I have now.
science GPA: 3.34 (Overall: 3.41), with an intended Major in Biomedical Engineering and an already completed Minor in Biology at Duke University. I really screwed up freshman year, but got a 3.4 spring semester freshman year and have been extremely trending upwards in GPA.
