Conclusions: Our data indicate that dispersion of repolarization across the interventricular septum is twice that of the LV free wall, predisposing to development of TdP under long-QT conditions. Aspects of the CS anatomy which could impact cannulation were examined: the CS ostial angle, the posterior displacement of the CS away from the atrioventricular groove, a measure of CS curvature, and the presence of stenoses and aneurysmal dilatations. A meta-analysis of trial data found that in people with diabetes, there was no unequivocal evidence of benefit for primary prevention with low-dose aspirin in reducing major cardiovascular events. The evidence on harms was inconsistent.

There is limited evidence relating directly to people with diabetes. The aim of this meta-analysis was to identify trial...

Understanding and documentation of drug[ndash]drug interactions (DDIs) are an important component of drug development, and of clinical therapeutics. Because clinical DDI studies are costly, time-consuming, and involve some risk, not all clinical DDI questions can be realistically addressed through human DDI trials. In vitro models have been used to identify and predict drug combinations that might interact, and combinations that are unlikely to interact. This screening or "filtration" information allows clinical resources to be targeted in a more informed way. Still, many DDI studies will end up with a negative result. Neg...

Patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD) and critical limb ischemia are the main candidates for limb amputations and have a poor life expectancy. Frequently, these patients are not eligible for either surgical or percutaneous interventions aimed at mechanical revascularization. Therefore, new strategies need to be identified to offer these patients a viable therapeutic option. Gene and cell therapy hold great promise for the treatment of peripheral vascular diseases because, in animal models, local delivery of growth factors and endothelial progenitor cells result in new blood vessel formation and regeneration of isch...

J Clin Hypertens (Greenwich). Patient adherence to antihypertensive medication is vital to ensure the successful treatment of hypertension. Low levels of adherence to and persistence with prescribed therapy are major factors leading to the current poor rates of blood pressure control among patients with hypertension. There are many reasons for nonadherence to therapy including patient-, physician-, and therapy-related factors. Poor tolerability has a detrimental effect on adherence, therefore reducing the apparent effectiveness of agents with dose-dependent side effects.
