Advice on which SMP to choose.. LMU-DCOM or USC-South Carolina
Hi everyone, I am looking at two different SMP's and wondering which would be the best for me, given my stats, to gain admission to a D.O/M.D. program starting Fall 2014. First I will present my stats and then the programs I am looking at. I'm 24 with a B.S. in Biology. My overall GPA is a 3.25 and my science GPA is a 3.11. I have done 350 hrs shadowing physicians with 2 LOR (one MD and one DO) and 150 hrs volunteering in the ED. I have yet to take the MCAT, but am scheduled for June 20th, and plan to take at least 2 more times this summer (july & august). I have been studying through Kaplan test prep for a month and r...

Arra's Web
At the moment I’m seriously considering Graduate Entry Medicine. I’m not sure which university would be the best one, and if I’m being honest, I need to be sure that this is the right choice for me. In July last year I was finally diagnosed with coeliac’s disease – from the Greek κοιλιακός, meaning “abdominal” – but I had been presenting with the symptoms for a long time. There had been a lot of upheaval, including redundancy and unemployment, but thanks to a change in diet I am feeling better than perhaps I’ve ever felt. All the way through school I wanted to be a scie...

Revision Topics and review my revision books
Hey Guys, I'm preparing for studying the GAMSAT (I think it's a bit late) I just wanted to know what type of topics I should be concentrating on. I'm a Biomed Grad so biology shouldn't be to hard, my chemistry and physic will need improving. I'm guessing: biochem, acid/bases, functional groups, structure, mass/moles, electronegativity? For Physics, i'm not to sure, all the formulas for electricity, mass, force, pressure? For biology, I am properly just gonna go over basic physiology, endocrine imbalances, cell structure/replication, DNA etc. What do you guys think? I bought a few books, I've yet to receive them yet...

First post introduction and GAMSAT stuffz
Hey guys and gals! I'm new round here, but a bit of a lurker. I've always wanted to do medicine but my school results were not med standard (BBB) (sadly, the teachers focussed more on getting passes than higher grades). So I studied chemistry, wanting a 2:1 but thanks to medical issues, I got a 2:2! Luckily, my top choice was always Nottingham (or Derby, for GEM). So, is anyone else beginning prep work for the GAMSAT this September? Feeling as nervous as me? I've never really feared exams before, but it's a fair hunk of cash to lay down for something that I'll potentially need to do again next year anyway! (Source: New Media Medicine)

The Conversion of a Doss-pot to Doctor
Hi, I'm Chris! :) I thought I would start one of these trailing blogs and update it every so often just to lay out my application for other in the future. Hopefully it'll be of some help if I get to Medicine eventually. Below is a summary of what has happened to date. GCSE Through school I was mid to top of my class, I generally worked hard and always had a keen interest in science. However I had always wanted to be a pilot as my mum had worked in airlines and my grand-dad had been an aero-engineer. Towards the end of my GCSEs I was told that I would never be allowed to be a pilot; this was due to complications with m...
