Latest Comment by Frankie Dolan - September 28, 2009: American statistics (32 deaths and 772 reports of serious side effects so far) warned us that it was only a matter of time before we see some deaths in the UK, as in the USA, but I am so dreadfully sorry for this poor girl and her family. Not only that, but angry at the UK government that they can take a decision on people's lives like this, weighing up that some girls will likely die from this vaccine, but 'apparently' more saved. One life lost in this way is tragic and should never have happened.

Latest Comment by Frankie Dolan - September 26, 2009: Since I was always recommended to give my children a spoon of Calpol/Tylenol after their shots to keep any fever down as a result of their vaccines, I decided to instead start giving them the spoon of medicine about 45 minutes before the vaccine, thereby avoiding any fever in the first place and also reducing the pain felt at the time of the vaccine. Seemed like common sense to me and seemed to reduce any discomfort since they never cried when receiving injections after I started doing this (whereas they did before). Nice to read here that this approach is being recommended by professionals.

Latest Comment by Frankie Dolan - July 10, 2009: I find it frustrating that very little information is released about the fatalities and serious cases (either here in the UK or elsewhere). I understand that there is an issue of patient confidentiality, but it may help to prevent such cases if we all knew a little more.
We don’t need to know who this patient was, for example, but it would be useful know how long they were ill, and at what point medical help was sought. Do we, for example, need to be most watchful when symptoms start, or a week into the illness, or with the prolonged cases where people are taking longer to get better? And clearly when do we need to se...

Latest Comment by alanlazaroff@centura.org - March 4, 2009: The claim that joint replacement surgeons are underpaid is stunning. According to recent information at this link
http://www.cejkasearch.com/compensation/amga_physician_compensation_survey.htm
the median income for joint replacement surgeonss in 2008 is $520,000. This is about 3 times what people in my specialty (geriatric medicine) earn.
Do joint replacement surgeons need to earn 10 times what primary care doctors earn to entice them to go into this field?

FDA Issues Black Box Warnings for Fluoroquinolones

Latest Comment by Fluoroquinolone Researcher - February 9, 2009: Dear Paul Auwaerter,
Fluoroquinolones are extremely dangerous drugs, that have been shown to damage almost all bodily systems, sometimes even irreversibly. Sometimes, such damage is done weeks or months after the administration of the drug, which explains why such adverse reactions are rarely linked back to the fluoroquinolones.
However, you give the impression, that you believe fluoroquinolones are completely safe antibiotics.
No amount of words can prove this. I recommend that you take a 7-Day dose of Levofloxacin 750mg daily. After all, isn't that just a normal dosage? I assure you, you will have a completely dif...

However, the objective of the FDA seems to have changed, as they appear to have formed a pathological alliance with the pharmaceutical industry possibly through the money that this industry gives the FDA for various reasons, so it seems.
