Should my child still be using a booster seat?
This study shows that these laws help protect children, and we hope it can convince lawmakers to create or adapt laws that require kids to be in the proper child passenger restraint (car seat and booster seat) until the recommended age and height.”
Whether the findings will inspire lawmakers to increase age and height limits on the varying booster seat laws out there remains to be seen, but based on Jameson’s response, there’s a good chance Mannix and her team’s research could lead to change.

North-South divide in heart disease deaths
Conclusion
This study provides a reliable and useful analysis of trends in CVD mortality since the 1980s, at the local level and at both younger and older ages. It has some small limitations – as the authors point out, changes in the classification of causes of death may mean that the reductions in CVD deaths and possible inequalities may be larger than estimated.
The authors say theirs is the first analysis of trends over time in CVD mortality at small-area level in England, and at both older and younger age groups. Its strength lies in its use of sophisticated modelling and mapping techniques.
However, the researchers ...

Postoperative tamoxifen for ductal carcinoma in situ
Source: Cochrane
Area: Evidence > Disease Focused Reviews
Background
Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is a non-invasive carcinoma of the breast. The incidence of DCIS has increased substantially over the last twenty years, largely as a result of the introduction of population-based mammographic screening. The treatment of DCIS tumours involves surgery with or without radiotherapy to prevent recurrent DCIS and invasive carcinoma. However, there is clinical uncertainty as to whether postoperative hormonal treatment (tamoxifen) after surgery confers benefit in overall survival and incidence of recurrent carcinoma.

How Fast Do Fingernails Grow?
Discussion
Onchophagia or nail biting is a common disorder in children and adults. It is often due to habit but can become so prevalent that it is compulsive in some individuals. Understanding the situations when the behavior is more common (i.e. stressful situations, when bored, etc.) and finding ways to decrease the triggering situation is helpful. Additionally, finding ways to compete with the behavior is also helpful (i.e. holding on to clothing, sitting on the hands). Another alternative is to use deterrents such as nail polish that has a bad taste or using gloves to cover the hands.
Habit reversal training can also ...
