Conclusions Overall frequency of incomplete excision is low and similar to that in other reports. However, high frequency in high-risk sites, low rates of previous biopsy, and substantial variation in performance between physicians and clinics suggests there is significant opportunity to further improve health outcomes.

Conclusions The burden of disease at sites other than the head and neck appears to be underreported in the literature and greatly affects quality of life. Differentiation between the clinical diagnoses has little prognostic or clinical utility in genetic counseling, even within individuals from the same family. Thus, we suggest an encompassing diagnosis of "CYLD cutaneous syndrome." Finally, the clinical distribution of tumors suggests that hormonal factors may play an important role in tumor induction in these patients.

Conclusions There are few publications that document PXE-like changes in association with various inflammatory skin conditions. Thus, the clinical significance of this finding remains uncertain. This case and previous reports are discussed in the context of current molecular and genetic knowledge. It is hoped that greater awareness of this phenomenon will promote further investigation and elucidation of the clinical and biologic significance of PXE-like changes observed in biopsies of inflammatory skin disorders.

Dupuytren's contracture (Dupuytren contracture) is a condition that affects the hands and fingers. It is an uncommon hand deformity in which the connective tissue under the skin of the palm contract and toughen over time. It causes one or more of the fingers on one or both hands to bend into the palm of the hand. Dupuytren's contracture is named after the French surgeon, Baron Guillaume Dupuytren, who first described and researched the condition in 1834.

Conclusions The prevalence of BRAF V600E in AGN suggests that ultraviolet exposure is not essential for generating the mutation. The BRAF V600E mutational status appears to be of limited diagnostic utility in distinguishing genital naevi that exhibit atypia from those that do not. Similar to oncogenic BRAF-positive common naevi without atypia, enhanced expression of the tumour suppressor IGFBP7 in oncogenic BRAF-positive AGN supports that they are biologically inert.

The authors of this article discuss the uncertainties surrounding the use of bath emollients as part of the treatment of atopic eczema, which the NHS in England spent around £15.5m on in 2008.
They were unable to identify any published RCTs assessing the clinical efficacy of bath emollients in atopic eczema from a search of the literature. In addition they state that they are not aware of any longstanding clinical experience of benefit from bath emollients to match that for directly applied emollients, and that the quantities of emollient deposited on the skin during bathing ...

Palmoplantar pustular psoriasis (PPP) is an uncommon form of chronic psoriasis. Characterized by sterile, intraepidermal pustules located on the palms and soles, it is highly resistant to treatment. Our patient presented with palmar inflammation and throbbing joint pain in his hands, as well as erythematous, pustular, and micaceous scaling skin on his right foot, legs, elbows, and hands. Approximately 4 percent of his body surface area was involved and he was diagnosed with PPP after skin biopsy. After conventional therapy failed, the patient underwent treatment with adalimumab and the majority of his symptoms resolved...

We report on a 63-year-old male who suffered from an ingrown toenail affecting the left first digit for several years. Furthermore, Emmert onychoplasty as well as non-invasive procedures did not achieve improvement. A thorough surgical exploration of the affected area detected a nail spicule in the deeper paronychium. This was likely caused by improper cutting of the nail plate. Removal of the fragment in combination with partial nail plate excision, followed by phenol cauterization of the ...

Treatment included chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. At present the patient is well with no signs of recurrence. This case reports a clinically remarkable cutaneous metastatic breast carcinoma.

We present two cases that were clinically diagnosed as mucoceles that were removed because of patient anxiety. In February 2009, the European Medicines Agency's (EMEA) Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) had recommended the suspension of efalizumab's (Raptiva®) marketing authorization, because its benefits in the treatment of psoriasis were modest, while there was a risk of serious side effects in patients receiving the medicine, including the occurrence of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML). The guideline group has changed the guideline accordingly.
