Latest Comment by WhataBreeze - July 21, 2009: I acquired Central Pontine Myelinolysis in 2002. Since then I have been doing research on this sad disease/disorder that has been termed an iatrogenic (error in physicians treatment) event. All you hear is 1,000,s of issues in regard to alcohol and/or hyponatremia. Some of these clinicians should try living with CPM for a while prior to writing their "VISIONS," as I'm sure it will help give the public some reality. I personally have started a Foundation on my own from my home. I'm not registered as an org. as of yet but I also have not allowed small young children to go without being evaluated as I was. My personal tr...

Latest Comment by Andre - July 15, 2009: I have issues with the statement: "Standard points outside of the range of quantification (anchor calibrators) are often used to assist in fitting these nonlinear regression models". I agree that anchor points are very helpful in assisting curve fitting, but without defining set rules on how to decide whether they are actually improving the curve, I fear that anchor point rejection remains too subjective. I have read in many places that anchor points should not have the precision & accuracy acceptance criteria used for non-anchor points; I agree, but then what criteria should we use? Some type of sum of squares calculation...

Latest Comment by BruceAlan - February 14, 2009: So, we have 10 documented delayed-type hypersensitivity "reactions" to Provigil within a short while in Australia. Meanwhile, no cases at all of delayed-type hypersensitivity were reported by the FDA until the very beginning of 2008. That was when, as if by epidemic, 6 similar cases suddenly appeared in the US.
That would mean that we are expected to believe that for a full 9 years - NINE YEARS! - following its release by Cephalon after FDA approval in 1998, no cases emerged post-approval due to use of Provigil in the States - a country with 12 times the population of Australia.
Yet the FDA's own records reveal th...

Latest Comment by Marianne Skolek - January 24, 2009: You should know what I know about Purdue Pharma and OxyContin. I know that in April 2002, I lost my beautiful 29 year old daughter Jill to prescribed OxyContin. I know I worked tirelessly from 2002 until today, to expose Purdue Pharma for criminally marketing OxyContin. I know that in July 2007, I was asked by U.S. Attorney Brownlee of Virginia to make an impact statement in Federal Court at the sentencing of Purdue Pharma's three CEO's Michael Friedman, Howard Udell and Paul Goldenheim for convincing physicians and patients that OxyContin was less likely to be addictive or abused. I know in my statement I called them ...

Latest Comment by Dan - September 24, 2008: The Pumpers: Better compliance for Insulin-dependent diabetic patients?
With some diabetic patients, the hormone insulin may be absent, yet necessary for their survival. As I recall, a man named Pauescu developed the concept of insulin replacement, and discovered a method of using insulin secreted from pigs as a replacement method for humans, which was effective at that time. Legend has it that this concept originated in a dream this man had on a night soon before his idea became reality several decades ago. Yet presently, this hormone which is naturally produced by the pancreas normally has advanced as far as treat...

Latest Comment by David McM, Glasgow - March 14, 2008: My wife Pauline McMurtrie [aged 74] who died six weeks ago from effects of MND - diagnosed in Glasgow in December, 2005, by Dr Richard Petty, Southern General, Glasgow, and confirmed in London by Prof. Nigel Leigh, at King's College Hospital - firmly contended her use of statins [after heart attack] from 1995 to 2004 contributed to the onset of MND. It began with muscle spasms and cramps in legs, which reduced and almost ceased when statins were withdrawn. No medical opinion confirmed she was correct in her suspicions, with the answer being this was unlikely. Her worry, and mine, if this is not the case is that the MND co...
