My diagnosis at age 34

Hi all,

I just thought I'd add my info here in case it helps someone down the road. I'm a 34 year-old active duty Marine and was just diagnosed last month as a side effect of determining that I have CBAVD. I have a p.L467P mutation and a 5T variant. I have tested positive on two sweat chloride tests, but am pancreatic sufficient and have no discernible lung damage. I was very small as a child - 45 lbs at age 10, didn't break 100 lbs until age 16-17. I remember having the oily stools and frequent constipation when I was small, but it's possible that it was due to diet and ...

Advice required
I am interested in applying to begin studying Medicine, but wasn't entirely sure which course would be relevant to me, or which route would be the best to take. I'm 23, so left school in 2004 with the following GCSE's: Physical Education - A Maths - B English Language - B Science Double Award - BC English Literature - C Geography - C Religious Education - C Information Technology - C Home Economics - D I have heard and read that I could potentially take an Access or Foundation course, but need advice as to whether this would be the best option. As it is too late to apply for any University courses starting...

Gaining insight into the work of a doctor
I'm a little bit worried about my work experience as although I have a lot of experience in healthcare it isn't really related to the work a doctor does. Also it is very mental health based, possibly in a negative way. I'm a nurse (mental health) and I've worked in two trusts since qualifying. Im also a public govenor of a local trust which is a mental health trust. I volunteer with the blood service (recruiting donors) and as an activist for Rethink. I have signed up to volunteer with St Johns Ambulance which I think will give me a perspective outside of mental health but I don't have anything outside of this....

Interview question about inequality?
Hi everyone, Ive got interviews coming up and found a website with practice questions, one of them is this; Name a sector of society which has poor access to healthcare? I'm kindof stuck! i've tried googleing it and havent found much. im not even completely sure what it means by 'sector' of society...I thought maybe the elderly in terms of degenerative disease etc. theres an article on BBC news health today about how only 1 in 20hospitals does training on how to care for patients with dementia..but that doesnt mean they have poor 'access' to healthcare it just means theyre not being well cared for =S anyway can ...
