FCC final rule gives MBANs the go-ahead
This week, the Federal Communications Commission released the final rule on medical body area network (MBAN) devices, decidedly allocating spectrum for wireless transmitters that are used for patient monitoring. With its Sept. 11 ruling, the FCC will set aside spectrum in the 2360-2400 MHz band for the wireless medical devices. Officials say this allocated spectrum access will mean zero-to-nominal transmission interference from Wi-Fi and other high-powered devices.   read more

GE commits $3M to imaging informatics education in Wisconsin
GE Healthcare and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) have formed a collaboration aimed at building a pipeline of Wisconsin-based medical imaging software developers and researchers.
