Hospitals are looking to document management and imaging (DMI) solutions to help them transition from paper records to electronic ones, according to a new report from KLAS.
In a market dominated by best-of-breed vendors, MedPlus and Hyland are the clear leaders in DMI, the report concludes.
"Both Hyland and MedPlus provide successful solutions for almost any size organization," said Steve Van Wagenen, a KLAS research director and author of the DMI study. "And their customer satisfaction scores remain strong regardless of the organization's EMR."

The HIT Policy Advisory Committee's information exchange workgroup learned Tuesday just how difficult it's going to be for doctors to exchange electronic lab results to qualify for federal "meaningful use" bonuses.
Physicians can earn a potential $44,000 under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), beginning Oct. 1, 2011, but they will have to show meaningful use of data, including the use of electronic laboratory results.

Abstract Monitoring of aortic blood flow, conducting large portions of the cardiac output (CO), allows conclusions on the global hemodynamic

Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta is employing technology to help manage its emergency department in anticipation of a surge of H1N1 flu cases this fall.
Hospital officials said the wave of H1N1 cases in the spring was manageable.
"The number of ER visits we had were minimal – maybe eight a month," said Charlotte S. Clark, Grady's emergency management manager.
As a regional coordinating hospital, however, Grady was also charged with distributing Tamiflu antiviral medicine, and that proved challenging.

The standard – referred to by industry participants as "NCPDP SCRIPT 10.6" – allows physicians using electronic health record software to electronically access prescription information from pharmacies and health plans while also making use of electronic prescriptions.

Today we are happy to report that we are ready for the next phase in our mission to establish a more effective voice supporting the use of free and open source software in the U.S. Federal government. Since our launch more than 1,250 individuals and organizations have joined OSFA and that is what we would like to discuss with you today.
