Three out of every four insurance claims from healthcare providers are being submitted electronically to AmeriHealth New Jersey – an increase of 50 percent over the past three years, according to the New Jersey-based insurer. About 75 percent of all claims are now transmitted to AmeriHealth by computer as healthcare providers move away from more expensive and time-consuming paper transactions. The insurer's goal is to have 90 percent of all provider claims submitted electronically within the next two years.

The Premier healthcare alliance has contracted with San Antonio-based AirStrip Technologies to offer its 2,200 hospital members mobile healthcare information technology to boost obstetrical (OB) care. Premier's purchasing partners division is the first group purchasing organization to offer AirStripOB, which provides obstetricians and nurses with real-time, remote access to fetal and maternal waveform data such as fetal heart rate and maternal contractions.

The Henry Ford Health System has rolled out a new picture archiving and communication system. PathPACS, developed by Falls Church, Va.-based Apollo PACS, Inc., was designed to provide digital imaging management for pathology laboratories. The solution will be integrated with the Detroit-based health system’s Sunquest Anatomic Pathology Information System and Sunquest Clinical Laboratory Information System.

Citing Norway's geography as "difficult to navigate" for patients, Mawell claimed in a press release that its X7 InfoBroker will eliminate problems associated with patient transfer by allowing radiologists to access studies from all areas of the region and send images for diagnosis to any clinic or hospital in the network.
