SXC Health Solutions Corp., a provider of technology and pharmacy benefit management (PBM) services, announced today that it has renewed a multi-year contract, through to June 30, 2011, for its informedRx PBM business with the Employer-Union Health Benefits Trust Fund (EUTF) of Hawaii. Under the agreement, SXC is providing full-service PBM services including mandatory mail, specialty distribution and patient care clinical programs and Employer Group Waiver Plans for the EUTF Prescription Preferred Provider Organization Drug Plan.

The Round Rock, Texas-based computer maker on Thursday introduced an electronic medical record system for hospital-affiliated physician practices. The intent, said Dell executives, is to accelerate the sharing and meaningful use of digital patient information among hospitals and physician practices.

The Henry Ford Health System's Patient-Centered Team Care program has reduced expected hospital admissions for enrolled heart failure patients by 36 percent after six months, according to officials.
The Detroit-based nonprofit healthcare system began using device-free patient-monitoring technology called Tel-Assurance, developed by Northfield, Ill.-based Pharos Innovations, at its clinics on July 21, 2008 as part of its patient-centered medical home model.

Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Va., is collaborating with NextGen Healthcare Information Systems to implement new technology in its quest to qualify for federal funding for healthcare IT improvements.
The 270-bed hospital will implement Horsham, Pa.-based NextGen’s Community Health Solution, Electronic Health Record, Enterprise Practice Management and Image Control System. With these new solutions in place, officials say they hope to receive available stimulus funds as well as improve the quality of care for patients.

One Beacon, based in Canton, Mass., and Medversant, headquartered in Los Angeles, have developed AutoVerifi, a solution designed to contiuously validate, store and retrieve records of medical providers. The technology is expected to simplify the credentialing process by storing medical information in a single location.

The Department of Defense Military Health System has signed an $8.1 million, 12-month add-on contract with EDS to make technical enhancements to several health information management systems.
The work is aimed at improving the quality and delivery of healthcare for recovering service members under the DoD Wounded Warrior care initiative.
The contract extends the 16-year relationship to manage and maintain the military's electronic health record – the largest and most comprehensive electronic health record in the world, according to the DoD.

The report, Medical Automation Technologies, Products and Markets, pegs the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) at 12.2 percent.
