The osseointegration behavior of titanium–zirconium implants in ovariectomized rabbits
ConclusionThe parameters intended to be representative of the bone morphology (BIC & BATA) did not help to discriminate between Ti and TiZr which appeared to behave similarly in this experimental model. However, the removal torque values for the TiZr group were statistically higher than those of the Ti group in both the SHAM and the ovariectomized animals. That likely reflected an increased quality of bone around the TiZr implants.

Measurement of SLAP2 and GISP δ(17) O and proposed VSMOW-SLAP normalization for δ(17) O and (17) O(excess).
CONCLUSIONS: The data generated here and compiled from previous studies provide a substantial volume of evidence to evaluate the various normalization techniques currently used for triple oxygen isotope measurements. We recommend that reported δ(17) O and (17) O(excess) values be normalized to the VSMOW-SLAP scale, using a definition of SLAP such that its (17) O(excess) is exactly zero. Background effects on Faraday collectors in gas-source mass spectrometry and implications for clumped isotope measurements.
CONCLUSIONS: Background determination with gas flowing into the source of the mass spectrometer is necessary for accurate clumped isotope measurements of CO(2) . Background corrections can be performed accurately if the slit width of the m/z 44 Faraday cup significantly exceeds that of the one for m/z 47, using a correlation between m/z 44 signal intensity and the corresponding minimum in m/z 47 background. We propose two new correction schemes that reduce the time-consuming measurement of gases of different bulk isotopic compositions. These findings may also be relevant for the measurement of other rare isotopologues by m...

Behavior of N-oxide derivatives in atmospheric pressure ionization mass spectrometry.
CONCLUSIONS: Deoxygenation is not solely a 'classical' thermal process but it is a thermal process that is solvent-mediated in the source. Deoxygenation was maximal with an APCI source while dimerization was predominant with an ESI source. Therefore, attention should be paid to these molecular changes in the mass spectrometer as well as to the choice of the ionization mode for N-oxides. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. Discovery of gymnodimine fatty acid ester metabolites in shellfish using liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry.
CONCLUSIONS: A semi-quantitative analysis indicated that the majority of GYMs present in the sample were in the acylated form (>90%), suggesting that these compounds must not be neglected when trying to understand the risks associated with GYMs. There is a clear need for toxicology studies on these esters and assessment of bio-availability to humans. Selected ion flow tube studies of several siloxanes.
CONCLUSIONS: The ion-molecule reactions of the seven silicon-containing compounds examined here were fast, occurring at or near the collision rate, thus allowing for detection at low levels. The very simple reaction chemistry found of proton transfer, electron transfer and methyl loss will enable easy quantitation of the siloxanes in landfill gas and biogas using the SIFTMS technique.
