To pack my 4-week vacation time, on top of social meet-ups and the like, i met up with a beloved mentor of mine at TTSH Dept of Gen Surg and did a few days of hospital attachment. Please understand, he is probably about Sidney’s age, and is semi-retiring. So he only does one OR day, and 2 clinic sessions. As a general surgeon, he does mainly hernia repairs, thyroidectomies, mastectomies and gastrectomies. At clinics, these are the problems we encounter all the time. My tuition is 23k a year, I am EFC 0 so I get the most I can from aid, Perkins and stafford loans, which is 18k. I need to take a 6 or 7k loan to pay off the rest of the tuition plus books supplies. My credit is horrible, I am in the middle of making it better. Tried to get private loans, I can't do it alone and the three cosigners I tried have too poor of an income to debt ratio.
What can I do besides put of school for a year to fix my credit, save money?

After 130 credit hours for undergrad, my GPA is 3.39. I decided late so I havent finished all my prereqs yet so I have to do them postbac. If I can obtain (because I know I can, because I want to) a 3.8-3.9 postbac GPA with 70 credit hours there, and get a 30+ on the MCAT- do I stand a chance with US med schools?
I have a shit load of volunteering from my previous major, and will get into shadowing also.

Hi guys. I just graduated from ucla and is in the process of finishing off my primary app. I have a low gpa: 3.58 cum and 3.57 BCPM.
I had an okay freshman year with B's scattered througout and some As.
My second year, I had family issues that made me commute for 2 hours and hold 3 jobs with full school load. I did horribly first 2 quarters, 2.1 and 2.9. Hi, I went offshore over 3 years ago, I started looking and applying a year before that, at that time, 4 years ago, it looked fine and bright, many loans and a good opportunity, times have changed and boy have they.
My current feeling is this:
Unless new financing is found for the Schools and solid at that, then I think all the schools except the three with federal student loans,
SGU, AUC and ROSS ( these three have federal student loans),
are in trouble, SABA. St. Matts, AUA, MUA, ...

Hi guys, I go to emory and was wondering, how exactly does retaking a class work??
Does the school put it into my GPA?? I heard that they average my grades but does it average as two 4 credit classes, or one 4 credit class??
suppose I received a C- on Orgo the first time... (a 1.7)
If I retake it and receive an A- (3.7),
will it affect my GPA as two 2.7 classes, or one 2.7 class?
does this apply for science GPA as well?

I'm a college sophomore right now, and I more or less just recently decided I want to head down a path towards being a doctor or a PA of some sort. I'm still deciding exactly how I want to go about it, but one of the options I was looking at was joining the Navy after college as a hospital corpsmen. I understand that it isn't a complete medical education by any means, but how would a med school look at it on an application? Just clinical experience? Or perhaps something more?

I am applying for the 2009 application cycle. I've been studying for the MCAT and trying to get all of my ducks in a row.
I have a question with letters of recommendation. Where I've been out of school for a little while I don't think I can get a letter from a professor. I can get them from doctors that I've shadowed pretty easy but how effective is that to only have letters from doctors?
How many letters and what type would be best for a non-traditional like me?

They shoot the first scene of the patient, exhibiting some symptoms, and somehow he or she presents to the hospital. They take on the case, come up with differentials, and they order tests to ascertain what’s going on. Hello,
Lurking here for a long time; having done much searching about GPA between colleges, I thought I'd ask a question.
I know ALL college credit hours are taken into account - but does this include two year "technical college" credits as well? I would assume so.
I've gone to three different colleges - to calculate my combined GPA for all institutions, would I use the regular 4.0 scale and assign each class, regardless of college, the appropriate score?

Hi guys, I'm new.
Here is my situation. I'm graduating in political science with a 3.2 hopefully.. otherwise a 3.129
I have also taken premed courses along with several 1-2 credit science courses ie. How the Body Works, Chem-safty ect... However, my science GPA is so low.. 2.2 that's with average, with out average them, I would get about 3.0

I'm heading into my fourth year of undergrad. I have a cumulative gpa of 3.3 and a science of 3.3 I've done research for about a year and will be heading into my second year of it. I have a minor in humanities.

Okay here it is:
I am hoping to get into a DO school, or SGU, or if some how i get a 30 on the MCAT, to a US MD school.
Here are my stats:
I have a 3.25 cum gpa, but this is not averaging in the couple classes that i had to retake. Adding those classes in my average would make my Gpa a 3.0
My science gpa without math is 2.7 and with math is 2.8(these are averaging in the Fs and Ds) if i dont avg them in my science would be like 3.1
What MCAT score do you think is the lowest score i need to get into SGU...
