Coronary CT Angiography versus Standard Evaluation in Acute Chest Pain
Conclusions In patients in the emergency department with symptoms suggestive of acute coronary syndromes, incorporating CCTA into a triage strategy improved the efficiency of clinical decision making, as compared with a standard evaluation in the emergency department, but it resulted in an increase in downstream testing and radiation exposure with no decrease in the overall costs of care. (Funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute; ROMICAT-II ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT01084239.) Supported by grants from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (U01HL092040 and U01HL092022) and the National Institut...

nanoparticle technology
With all of the research going on on nano particles that can selectively target and deliver to things like cancer cells, could someone just package a plasmid or peice of dna into it of say the antigen for chicken pox, have the cancer cell display the chicken pox antigen all over its surface and have the immune system do the rest? Afterall, we are all pretty much immune to chicken pox, why not trick the immune system into destroying cancer cells for us by cloaking them in proteins our immune system already recognizes? Why bother messing around with trying to manipulate cancer cell DNA and delivering drug therapeutics? Just...

Random Questions from and OMSI (I promise I searched)
Hey, I am an OMSI and have recently became interested in pm&r. A pm&r physician came to our school and gave a presentation about the past, present and future of pm&r which conjured up some questions in my head that I want to know the answer to: He mentioned technological advances that will influence the field such as nanotechnology, improved imaging, and limb regeneration? -- The improved imaging seems obvious, but how will nanotechnology and limb regeneration influence the field? He also mentioned PT's resolution stating their goal was to obtain full autonomy in the rehab field by 2020. Is this lof...

3 questions
Hi everyone! I have some questions that I would like to ask. They are separated questions, but I do not want to flood the forum with 3 different posts. I decided to integrate them into one post. Q1: I have an interview scheduled with USC postbac this coming week. Perhaps someone here can share what was asked on the interview? From the posts on the same topics that I had read, it seemed like the interview is mostly informal where both side try to get to know each other. Is there anything more specific that someone here can share? Q2: Aside from USC, I have also applied to JHU and Scripps. What are my chances of hearin...

Is it worth applying to Oxford for medicine?
Hello... I know that these are the most awful posts which every one does, but it's really distressing me. I want to go to Oxford more than anything else, but after work experience at a hospital and Medlink I found that I loved it so much I now have an ambition to do medicine. However, I do not know whether it would be worth applying for medicine AT Oxford, because I'm not exactly top of my year. I could do biomedical sciences. but then regret not doing medicine, or I could do medicine, but regret not having a chance at Oxbridge!! Here's a little about me... Qualifications GCSEs: 10 A*, 1 A (:( I was supposedly &qu...
