Single indications of induction of labor with prostaglandins and risk of cesarean delivery: A retrospective cohort study
ConclusionCesarean delivery rate is not significantly influenced by any indication of induction of labor with prostaglandins, except for prolonged pregnancy. Elective induction is associated with the lowest risk of cesarean section. Increasing maternal age, low parity, low Bishop score and low duration of labor are at higher risk of cesarean section.

Ultrasound‐accelerated catheter‐directed thrombolysis for the management of postpartum deep venous thrombosis
Abstract
Pregnancy and the postpartum period are associated with an increased risk of venous thromboembolism, which remains an important cause of maternal morbidity and mortality. Although oral or systemic anticoagulation therapy may minimize thrombus propagation, it remains ineffective in removing thrombus burden and consequently does not prevent post‐thrombotic syndrome. A novel technique, ultrasound accelerated catheter directed thrombolysis (UACDT), has been developed to rapidly and completely resolve thrombus. While pregnancy and the postpartum period are generally considered as contraindications for thrombolysis, w...

We report the first case, to the best of our knowledge, of successful conception following ovarian induction in a patient with premature ovarian failure and undetectable serum anti‐Müllerian hormone. After endogenous gonadotrophins were normalized by hormone‐replacement therapy and gonadotrophin‐releasing hormone agonist, ovarian induction was performed using exogenous gonadotrophins. New horizon on successful management for a woman with repeated implantation failure due to unresponsive thin endometrium: Use of extended estrogen supplementation
Abstract
An adequate thickness and pattern of the pre‐ovulatory endometrium is considered one of the essential requirements for a successful pregnancy. Although various methods for increasing endometrial thickness have been proposed, the real value of these interventions remains controversial. Here, we present a case of successful administration of extended estrogen supplementation before conventional controlled ovarian hyperstimulation in a woman who had experienced repeated implantation failure because of an unresponsive thin endometrium. After the estrogen supplement was administrated for an extended period, the in vi...

According to research reported early online in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, use of oseltamivir to treat or prevent H1N1 influenza during pregnancy does not appear to increase the risk of early birth, poor foetal growth or a low Apgar score at birth.

I had my hysterectomy on Monday and came home yesterday from hospital on day four. I lost a lot of blood during surgery and needed transfusions. The consultant came to see me and said it was the worst case of endometriosis that she had ever seen.
I feel sad as I never managed to have that child I always wanted even after lots of infertility treatments. Now it’s too late . I know it’s early days but am glad to,be home. I am taking regular painkillers but sleep is still evasive! hopefully this is just a new chapter in my life but my hubby is worried that I will change now. We will just have to see.

This article provides a case-based discussion of management of women with a previous preterm birth. Estimating the risk of a subsequent preterm delivery can be improved by assessment of obstetric history. Primary preventative strategies include lifestyle advice and modification of pre-pregnancy risk factors. Antenatal care involves increased monitoring and supportive care. The usefulness of screening for preterm birth using cervical length ultrasound or biochemical tests of cervicovaginal secretions lie mainly in their negative predictive value, allowing recognition of women in whom subsequent preterm birth is unlikely. Miscarriage in contemporary maternal–fetal medicine: targeting clinical dilemmas
Abstract
Miscarriage is the most common adverse outcome in Maternal‐Fetal Medicine and has long term psychological impact. Discrepancies in diagnosis and treatment have prompted RCOG and NICE to extend miscarriage diagnostic criteria and ascertain diagnosis through a second opinion and/or a repeat scan. Clinicians should base management on expectant management as first‐line treatment, but other options should be explored when indicated. Because of the high prevalence of chromosomal anomalies in first trimester loss, karyotyping was traditionally considered redundant. However, chromosomal studies provide valuable inform...
