CRD Summary: The review investigated whether immunotherapy was beneficial for symptoms or medication use in children and adolescents with allergic rhinoconjunctivitis. The studies included were limited in quality and had often inconsistent results. The authors concluded, appropriately, that there was insufficient evidence to establish whether or not immunotherapy had a beneficial effect.
[The main allergen was grass pollen (other allergens used were: house dust mite, olive pollen, mould, ragweed pollen, birch pollen or parietaria pollen). ]

Abstract The use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in Switzerland is rather high, and therefore, the occurrence of accidental
intakes of CAM remedies by children and associated intoxications is to be expected. In the present study, the inquiries to
the Swiss Toxicological Information Centre that took place from 1998 until 2007 and concerned accidental, unintended intakes
of CAM remedies by children were analysed. Inquiries for information were performed by concerned care-givers, physicians,
pharmacists and others in case of acute accidental intake of CAM remedies. Feedbacks from physicians abou...

Abstract Paediatric patients are more vulnerable to drug administration errors due to a lack of appropriate drug dosages and strengths
for use in this group of patients. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to determine the extent and types of drug administration
errors in two paediatric wards and to identify measures to reduce such errors. A researcher was stationed in two paediatric
wards of a teaching hospital to observe all drugs administered to paediatric inpatients in each of the ward, for 1 day in a week over ten consecutive weeks. All data were

Conclusions Aside from GTR, no other clinical, histopathological, or immunohistochemical features were found to be related to the prognosis.
We postulate that strict follow-up is recommended if piloA is associated with high mitotic activity/Ki67-LI, or if GTR cannot
be achieved at surgery. Tumor recurrence or progression of the residual lesion should be strictly observed. In some aspects,
childhood piloA remains an enigmatic tumor.

We describe a case of a 13-year-old boy with GBM. Fourteen months after surgical resection followed by radiotherapy and temozolomide
chemotherapy, the patient showed local recurrence. No response to subsequent bevacizumab treatment was observed. To determine
correlations of molecular alterations with clinical outcomes in this case, we examined the expressions of Ki-67, MMP-9, MGMT,
VEGF, Ras, and p-AKT using biopsies before and after recurrence.
Discussion Childhood glioblastomas show a distinct biological behavior and probably a different molecular pathogenesis in comparison
to the adult ones. Unders...
