Physics Help
I'm a junior in High School - I think it's junior, I'm in Grade 11 to clarify that. (I'm Canadian, so I don't follow the same percentage and GPA scores, and stuff like that - b/c we don't have GPA's). 'm in the laptop program at school (that basically means - AP plus PACE , just doing everything on the laptop).....And my Physics teacher doesn't believe in the text book....So, he gives us the website "the physics classroom (http://www.physicsclassroom.com/) " to do our work....the problem with it is that it is more advanced and hard to understand. He also talks extremely fast, and you can't really go to him f...

Research and schedule questions
Hi, I recently emailed 14 professors about openings in their lab for research and got 10 responses; 7 said no because they dont usually take freshman and dont have openings, 1 said no but told me to 'absolutely contact him next year' as a sophomore (im a freshman), 1 said to contact him early spring semester so he can develop a project for next semester and last one said Yes he can let me start next semester, however the research (he is the head of the physics department) is primarily theoretical and computational. Does anyone have experience with that sort of research and whether it is beneficial or I should wait/talk to ...

Is this study material concise enough for the actual MCAT?
Biology: EK Organic Chemistry: EK Gen Chem: BR Physics: BR Verbal: All Practice passages from TPRH Verbal, 101 EK, Kaplan, etc.... My test is at 8 AM on January 24 and I studied all the sciences last summer. My review is going to be pretty quick and easy. I am planning to take my first AAMC around mid-Nov to Thanksgiving holiday. ALSO.... I have practice exams from Gold Standard, BR, Kaplan, EK, etc..... Should I only do the BR and AAMC ones? Because I doubt I can finish all of those exams.

School in Australia?
Hi all, This issue may have already been discussed on here but I can't quite find the proper post in the forums, so here goes... I graduated from uni in 2008 and am currently living in Cambodia, working for a NGO. I have three more prereqs to take to apply to med school but can't do them here. I'm thinking of applying to med school in Australia but do need to take these last three classes. The plan I crafted this morning is to head back to the US for a summer and plow through them (physics I and II and orgo II) and the MCAT, which I think I'd only need to get loans through the US. Does anyone know anything about the pr...

Keep plugging away or abort?
Hi guys! (and gals, of course :) ) I wanted your advice as if anyone seems to understand our situations and odds of getting in, it would be a forum of NonTrads! I am 35 - I started premed post bacc classes 4 years ago while working full time. I was doing well and on a roll until "Life Happened": accident, health issues, death of a family member, lost of a job - all in 6 months. I decided to keep going to school (while working as a research assistant) through everything that ensued after that bad period and finally burnt out and took a break from school this past Spring Semester. After this summer, I realized I ...

Confused about THIS pHYSIcs question...
Here it is... Two balls having the same mass are shot from the same point with the same initial speed at the same time, but at different angles to the horizontal. Which of the following statements must be true: a) The ball launched at the larger angle hits the ground first. b) The ball launched at the smaller angle hits the ground first. c) The two balls hit the ground at the same time. d) The ball launched ar the larger angle always has more total mechanical energy. I picked a) thinking that we are dealing with the x direction not y and since the x and y are independent of each other the time in the x direction will dep...

Electrical Engineering pre-med unique situation
Hey guys, I have been lurking on SDN for a while now, and I have seen all different types of posts. Since you guys are knowledgeable on a lot of subjects, I was hoping you would be able to help me out with a couple inquiries I have. I want to let you know that I have called different school of medicine admission offices (it was helpful to an extent) and have tried to search for people in the same boat as I am in (on SDN and other websites), but haven't had any luck. I'm currently studying Electrical Engineering at one of the UC campus' and I will be graduating in Spring of 2014. I transferred into the UC from a community...
