Best Podiatry Residencies
I was looking for the thread that had the TOP podiatry residency programs. It was a long list by region and some of the hospitals were in bold to indicate that it was top notch. Could anyone send the link? I searched before I asked but could not find it. Nevermind I found it (Source: Student Doctor Network Forums)

Pod Application Cycle for Fall 2014
Hello! I am looking into applying for Fall 2014. I wanted to ask a few questions regarding the application cycle: 1. When does the POD application open on the web? 2. Is it a rolling admission? 3. Do students start applying in summer? 4. If I do not have any experience shadowing a podiatrist before applying, would that lower my chance of getting in greatly? 5. Did anyone get in without a recommendation letter from a podiatrist? Thanks everyone! :-) (Source: Student Doctor Network Forums)

I was going to apply for podiatry school in August, but I decided to take my MCAT then so I can have time to study over the summer. Also, with fall courses, I can add more courses to my sGPA. *Canadian* NYCPM Interview!
To my surprise I was invited for an interview at NYCPM via e-mail just this week! I applied in early February and wasn't expecting such a quick turnaround. My stat's seemed fairly good for DPM (25P MCAT, 3.5 cGPA, 3.3 sGPA) so I knew I had a reasonable shot. I know this topic has been covered before and i've read and re-read the older posts on interviews at NYCPM but I was wondering if anyone had any particular idea how the interview is structured? I'm set for late March and so i'll have lots of time to brainstorm and practice going over the typical questions (i.e: explain low grades, reason for choosing DPM, q's regarding...

Fell out with supervisor....
Hi, I need some advice please. I have been interested in podiatry for a while and have a 31 MCAT and 3.3 GPA. I've taken two years off after college to work and I've recently fallen out with my supervisor. I won't go into specifics, but I'll just say that I really doubt that I can receive a positive LOR from him. Quick Question?
Hello. I just got finished shadowing my first podiatrist this week and it was a great experience. I learned that I actually think I would enjoy podiatry more than dentistry (mainly because feet > teeth but also the current condition of med/dent business is iffy at best in the 10 year range and podiatry seems to be be increasing with the elevated foot problems present and growing). I was just curious if its possible to apply to podiatry school with only three years of schooling (and all pre-reqs accomplished) or if they require a bachelors degree. Also if they do accept the just 90 hours + pre-reqs what kind of statist...

Putting down deposit at osteopathic school AND podiatry school
Say, hypothetically, that I am still torn between the two careers come the deadline. Would I be able to put down a deposit at both an OM school and a podiatry school? Do AACOMAS and AACPMAS communicate with one another, and if they see I am holding multiple acceptances, would I get in trouble? Please don't give me an SDN-style lecture on the ethics of withholding another spot from an applicant, but instead, answer the question from a hypothetical standpoint. Drawn to podiatry because it is "tangible"
I suppose this is a comment more than a question, but I would appreciate your input. I think I'm drawn to podiatry because it's, for lack of a better word, tangible. You work with problems that you can observe physically and you work to correct these maladies. I just think it would be so much more fulfilling than being a ped, family doc, or internist where you can't always see the problem, and more often than not, the only thing that you can do is prescribe medication, refer or throw antibiotics all over the place (not that you don't that as a pod). Also, you can do surgery as a pod. How much more "tangible" can...

What would I have to do?
Hi, at the risk of sounding arrogant, I was wondering what i would have to do in order to get into podiatry school. I only recently discovered the profession, since we don't actually have podiatrists here in Canada. The only problem is that I have been out of school for a year now (living with parent :( ) and am finally being struck with a serious reality check. So a quick run down of my situation: 1) cGPA - 3.3 2) sGPA - 2.7 3) DAT - 19 ...

Why do Pod/pre-pod students get mad when we ask of our chances with DAT ?
I was reading a thread about a few students who wanted to know the average DAT score of get accepted to podiatry students and the responses they received were so rude. Some of these responses talked about how it is a disgrace that students should be accepted with DAT instead of MCAT. They went on and on saying about how much easier the DAT is compared to the MCAT. First of all, do you people realize that getting into dental school is MUCH harder than getting into podiatry school? you can have a sub 3.0 and still have a great chance of getting into pod school. Few questions about podiatry
I've recently become very interested in podiatry and have been reading through the "true stories from podiatric residency" thread. I noticed a lot of stories about getting called to the er to respond to foot traumas; things like gsw's and fractures. These things are very cool to me and one of the reasons I think I would enjoy the work. However, those type of things seem to overlap a lot with orthopedic surgeons. What factors decide if podiatry or ortho get called to foot trauma? Is it possible/common to work in a hospital where these injuries are always left to ortho? There seems to be an overlap in other areas...
