Slightly Freaking out- LOE
Okay so I have two Professor LOEs (No Committee in my school or whatever). They both teach science (Neuroscience) courses at my university. One prof has taught me behavioral pharmacology course (which technically falls under Psychology dept.) and will be teaching me a Neuroscience course this upcoming fall (which falls under science). The other prof has taught me Science course last year. Most schools ask for Profs from Faculty of Science. These two profs are neither technically from science faculty at my university, even though they teach science courses. Their research work though is intensive in areas such as Cortical P...

MD Is there any hope for me :( ? Please help me out
This is kind of a long post, but please help me if you have the time!
So i just got finished with my freshman year and , to say the least, I've been very depressed and self loathing after i received my results. I didn't concentrate as well i should have or could have and it showed in my grades. I can not believe i put my dream, my career, and future at risk because of my stupidity. I was not prepared for the difficulty level in college and was still in "highschool mode" But here goes, this is my freshman year:
(The F in the first semester is replaced b.c i took the class over again)

Should I give up my hobby?
I've been a realty agent for a few years now, doing the work on a part-time basis. It is a hobby of mine that I picked up a few years back. Just really enjoy buying/selling homes, working with people, and other aspects of being a realtor.
Is this something I will need to give up once I am a psychologist? I am going into my pre-doc internship and plan on being licensed soon after. Plan is to do private practice and teach. Obviously, I would not be selling houses to client's. My concern is about how I would be marketing myself, and also making sure that my realty clients are not connected to therapy clients. I have a realto...

Starting a program
What do you wish you knew before the first day of your program? I'm talking possibly silly lifestyle things, such as what is appropriate to wear to class, bring with you, how far away you can live, etc.
Do people generally meet their cohort before day 1, or is it just all a mystery until the ball gets rolling?
Obviously looking forward to starting and any random tips, advice, or "oh I wish I had known that when I started" types of comments would be appreciated! (Source: Student Doctor Network Forums)

Kaiser Permanente in California - Salary Question
Hi all,
I have two quick questions.
1) Does anyone know what the psych assistant salary is at Kaiser Permanente? (basically, how much does Kaiser pay psych assistants)
2) What is starting salary for psychologists (licensed) at Kaiser? I've heard speculations and mixed info, and I can't find reliable info online. Anyone have personal experience?
Thx. (Source: Student Doctor Network Forums)

Tips for internship year
Some of us are getting ready to begin our internships over the next few months. To all of those that have already been through internship year, do you have any advice that will help us to make the most of internship year? Pitfalls to avoid?
It's becoming more and more real as the weeks progress and I admit to feeling a bit of anxiety over what the next year will hold for me. (Source: Student Doctor Network Forums)

MD I took the wrong ochem series
So I started university with the goal of going into clinical psychology because I felt that I just wasn't cut out for medical school. At my university, there are two levels of organic chemistry: pre-med and non pre-med. So convinced that med school wasn't for me, I took (and finished) the non pre-med series. It wasn't until I made that choice of "non pre-med" that I realized how badly I wanted to continue into medical school.
My question is: will it look badly if I take the pre-med ochem now that I've finished the non-premed series? Even if I manage As?
Some background: I am a sophomore majoring in psychology ...

Mark in 4th subject
Hi,I'm taking 4 AS levels at the moment; maths, chemistry, biology and psychology. I am planning on dropping psychology due to work load etc for A level. I know that to get into med schools now you need all A's but I wanted to know if that also applied to the dropped AS subject as well.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks. (Source: New Media Medicine)

Need Advice on Which Courses to Take
Hi all,
I am currently a freshman at Pitt studying pre-pharmacy (unconditional). I want to apply to as many pharmacy schools as I can for Fall 2014. However, because all pharmacy schools have different requirements, it's becoming hard to figure out which courses I need to take.
Course work I have completed (including this semester):
AP histories - 9 credits
Chem 1&2 (w/lab) - 8 credits
Bio 1&2 (w/lab) - 8 credits
EngCmp - 3 credits
Anatomy/physiology 1&2 (CHS) - 8 credits
Business Calc - 4 credits
Calc 1 - 4 credits
Psychology - 3 credits
Physical Anthropology - 3 credits
Next year I will take:

Public Health or Psych for UG Major
As of right now I am majoring in Psychology and attending class on campus at a State University, however I have the option of doing eLearning/Blackboard classes through University of South Florida for a BS in Public Health. I have taken Intro to Epi and Public Health Writing using USF's distance learning option and I would really like to apply for a Public Health graduate program after graduation.
I have a few questions I was hoping to have answered.
1) Would a Public Health undergrad major make me more competitive for a graduate program?
2) Given that most, if not all, of the courses can and will be taken through dista...
