Debate: Granting Clinical Psychologists Prescribing Privileges
(NOTE: I posted this exact same question in the Ph.D section. This was intentional. I wanted two different perspectives)
As you know, clinical psychologists are already permitted to supervise the hospital care of their Medicare patients under current law. The new Medicare Mental Health Access Act (S. 483/HR 831) undermines necessary medical training and would allow clinical psychologists to supervise the overall care of patients in inpatient facilities that receive Medicare reimbursement. Furthermore, if this bill is passed, it could provide momentum for legislation in states to expand scope of practice and grant clinica...

do you guys think i can pull off studying for the DAT with this schedule?
So I postponed my DAT test a SECOND time this time in late April. Originally I was supposed to take it in late January, then I pushed it to the end of February, and now I'm taking it in April (made a vow to no more extensions). That gives me an extra 2 months. I noticed I'm having trouble studying for the DAT's simply because I run out of energy to study. Because I get palpitations from consuming coffee, and excessive amounts of energy drinks are generally poor for your health, I cannot rely on caffeine to keep me energized. Commuting to school was a choice my parents and I made so that we can save money for dental school....

How valuable is post grad work experience?
Hey guys,
I graduated in fall of 2011. Following graduation I worked as a CNA at a nursing home full time for 6 months (absolute hell.. there are no words). I'm now working in a level 1 trauma center as a tech (60 - 80 hours a week). Planning on applying in June, and working until my eventual (fingers crossed) acceptance.
I'm just wondering how favorably this is looked at by the admissions committees. Is this anything special, or is it just run of the mill BS that everyone is expected to have?
Didn't decide that I wanted to become a doctor until my senior year, so I've only got a couple hundred volunteer hours logged (...

Letter of Rec - Ophthalmologist?
So I worked in an ophthalmologist's office last summer, and haven't spent much time shadowing optometrists.
Do you think schools would mind if I had a letter of recommendation from an ophthalmologist instead of an optometrist?
