OREF invites submissions for grants of $5,000 each intended for orthopaedic residents who are working with a mentor to develop research interests. Clinical relevance must be clearly noted in the abstract and specific aims sections of the application, and be obvious from the title and study design. Both laboratory and clinical projects are suitable. Funding may be applied to research expenses, but not salary or travel. The SSH Research Committee is providing one $5000 grant to support promising pilot studies. Research representing appropriate quantitative, qualitative or hybrid approaches are equally welcome. The main objective is to support investigators in performing health-related simulation-based pilot studies. We are seeking studies that are both novel and have strong potential for a positive impact on healthcare delivery processes and outcomes through, for example, education, assessment, usability testing or system integration.
