ConclusionThe majority of PSHs show increased FDG uptakes, and their SUVmax values are significantly correlated with their tumor size. PSH ≥2 cm can frequently be falsely interpreted as malignancy in FDG-PET/CT. Further studies with large study population are warranted to confirm our observations.

ConclusionMRI is as accurate as CT in detection and size measurement of primary thoracic malignancies >1 cm in diameter. If a lung lesion is detected by MRI, it is a reliable finding and its measurement is accurate. CT remains superior in detecting small lung nodules (<6 mm). Detection rate of MRI for small lesions is improved using a multi-sequence protocol including contrast administration.

ConclusionCAD may have the potential to increase cancer detection by up to 16%, and to reduce the number of interval cancers by up to 20% in SFM and FFDM screening programs using independent double reading with consensus review. The influence of true- and false-positive CAD marks on decision-making can, however, only be evaluated in a prospective clinical study.

ConclusionIn leukemia the most common imaging pattern is diffuse enlargement. In the other subtypes of lymphoproliferative disease no specific correlation between typical CT patterns and subtype of lymphoproliferative disease can be found. The prevalence of renal involvement is in line with earlier studies. Contrary to earlier reports, multiple lesions were not found to be a common pattern.

    Abstract
Pleural tuberculosis is the most common extrapulmonary manifestation of tuberculosis, and is generally characterized by an effusion. The effusion is usually unilateral and residual pleural thickening or calcification is also observed in some cases. Manifestations of multiple pleural tuberculomas without associated effusion and history of tuberculosis or antituberculous therapy are rare and an isolated pleural tuberculoma is exceedingly rare. Herein, we report the first documented case of an isolated pleural tuberculoma, diagnosed by chest CT and pathological findings. Although rare, an isolated pleural tuberculoma should be added to the differential diagnosis of focal nodular pleural tumors, particularly in areas of high t...

    Abstract
Crossed cerebellar hyperperfusion (CCH) is detected in patients with epilepsy by brain perfusion studies including single photon emission computed tomography and positron emission tomography. In addition, brain perfusion can be studied with arterial spin labeling (ASL), which is a non-invasive MRI perfusion method that quantitatively measures cerebral blood flow per unit tissue mass. We followed up a 47-year-old patient with mitochondrial myopathy, encephalopathy, lactic acidosis, and stroke-like episodes (MELAS) by continuous arterial spin labeling technique, which showed crossed cerebellar hyperperfusion after acute stroke-like episode. This cerebellar hyperperfusion normalized in the follow-up.

We report a case of a 65-year-old man with mild abdominal pain and insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen showed a short pancreas with no pancreatic tissue ventral to the splenic vein. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) visualized the absence of a dorsal duct system and confirmed the suspicion of complete agenesis of the dorsal pancreas. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) was also performed to rule out pancreatic malignancy.

ConclusionOur data demonstrate that thin-section chest CT commonly demonstrates main bronchial diverticula in the subcarinal region in patients without airflow limitations. We propose that the presence of a small number of tiny bronchial diverticula under the carina may not be a criterion for the diagnosis of COPD.

Authors: Chakraverty J, Curtis O, Hughes T, Hourihan M
    Abstract
Spinal cord injury is a rare complication of chiropractic treatment. This case report describes a 50-year-old man who developed neurological symptoms a few hours after manipulation (high velocity low amplitude [HVLA] technique) of the cervical spine. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of the cervical spine revealed intramedullary high signal at the C2/3 level of the right side of the cervical cord on the T2-weighted images. The potential mechanism of injury and causes of the radiological appearance are discussed.

ConclusionInjuries in sports and recreational accidents presented with an overall incidence of 21%, of which 71% are serious. The most common mechanisms of injury were bicycling, horseback riding, and team ball sports. The largest incidence of serious injury involved bicycling. Because of the high probability of a serious injury and the high energies that are often involved in these accidents, we recommend ruling out of internal injury by MDCT as the primary imaging modality.

Conclusion Use of a low-radiation, dual-phase, CT protocol, which relied on both an unenhanced phase and a combined vascular and excretory phase, significantly reduced radiation dose. Furthermore, the proposed protocol provides adequate visualization of renal arteries and veins, and affords sufficient opacification of the urinary tract using improved acquisition triggering.

    Abstract
Imaging modalities used in the diagnosis of multiple myeloma have evolved and most of them are also suitable for either early or mid-term monitoring of response to novel antimyeloma therapy. This pictorial essay focuses on modern imaging techniques for diagnosis and follow-up of patients with multiple myeloma in order to highlight their individual strengths and limitations. Also, the impact of recently established modern pharmaceutical therapy, like anti-angiogenic medication, on the tumor is addressed.

    Abstract
Plasmablastic lymphoma of the oral cavity is a very rare and only recently recognized entity that has been identified almost exclusively in HIV-infected individuals. It has a predilection for the oral cavity, often exhibits very aggressive behavior and has a poor prognosis. The use of 18F-FDG PET/CT in the evaluation of HIV-associated lymphomas is a recent development, and its use in the staging of plasmablastic lymphoma of the oral cavity has not been previously reported. This rare report highlights the usefulness of 18F-FDG PET/CT in the staging of plasmablastic lymphoma of the oral cavity.

ConclusionAlthough MR cannot be considered a replacement for CT in pulmonary metastases from ccRCC, whole-body DWI, with the combination of T1 dual echo, might be helpful for the evaluation of tumor response to chemotherapy in the follow-up of patients when the diameter of the pulmonary metastases is over 1.0 cm.

Conclusion Even with an 80% dose reduction, there was a significant improvement in the perceived image quality when using a 2D noise-reduction filter, though not approaching the quality of full-dose images. This indicates that cardiac CT examinations could benefit from noise-reducing postprocessing with 2D non-linear adaptive filters.

We present a case of ascending pharyngeal-vertebral anastomosis that was found incidentally in computed tomography angiography of the ascending pharyngeal artery. Images revealed that the anastomosis formed through the hypoglossal branch of the neuromeningeal trunk. The anastomosis seemed to be associated with hypoplasia of the right vertebral artery. Interventional radiologists should be aware of this dangerous anastomotic route of the APA to the VA. Discovery of hypoplasia of the major intracranial arteries before intra-arterial chemotherapy or embolization in head and neck area may avoid subsequent complications.

Authors: Pauwels EK, Bourguignon M
The considerable rise of computed tomography (CT) procedures over the past few decades has urged responsible authorities and researchers to evaluate the risk of carcinogenesis in the population in relation to the radiation dose delivered to the patient. A single patient undergoing CT may receive a radiation equivalent dose that varies between about 2 mSv (head ) to about 20 mSv (CT-based coronary angiography). Whereas the latter represents a substantial dose delivered to one patient it is, however, population-wise far below the area of the so-called low doses, i.e. 50 mSv in children and 100 mSv in adults. While at effective doses above 50 mSv the risk of cancer induction increases linearly with dose, this dose-response relation has not been demonstra...

Endovascular treatment options have evolved in many ways and become an important alternative for open surgical repairs in various vascular territories. Herein, we present a case of an 18-year-old man with complex injury to the left subclavian artery and vein caused by a gunshot 4 months ago. After the gunshot, a high-flow fistula between the left subclavian artery and the vein occurred with pseudoaneurysm formation. This fistula led to a significant left subclavian steal phenomenon. A stent-graft was deployed along the injured left subclavian artery after embolization of the left vertebral artery by Amplatzer vascular plug 4 (AVP-4) in order to prevent subsequent endoleak due to the subclavian steal syndrome.

This article is a reasoned pictorial review illustrating the many faces of thrombotic and embolic disease developing in the cancer patient. From a clinical point of view, we particularly point out the importance of properly identifying this occurrence in its various presentations. From a radiological point of view, special emphasis is given to the wide spectrum of multidetector CT findings, to the clues of benign and malignant thrombus diagnosis, and to the potential interpretative pitfalls.

Conclusion When there are no calcifications visible on the CT scan, a hyperattenuating fungal ball located in the central area of the sinus with mucosal thickening on enhanced CT scans is an important feature of a non-invasive sinonasal fungus ball. On MRI, a sinonasal fungus ball has typical features of a marked hypointense fungus ball with a hyperintense mucosal membrane in T2-weighted images. A contrast-enhanced CT scan or MRI provides sufficient information for the preoperative differentiation of a sinonasal fungus ball from other forms of sinusitis.

Conclusion: The various MR sequences described in this study allowed the demonstration of transient and persistent components of reperfused infarct. The progressive deterioration of global LV function was not related to the transient reperfusion components (edema, hemorrhage or MO) or change in infarct size. The results imply that MR imaging has the potential to identify progressive deterioration of LV function unrelated to reperfusion injury components or infarct size.

Retrospective respiratory triggering renal perfusion MRI.

Conclusion: Triggering reduces the oscillations in the signal curves and produces sharper parametric maps. In contrast to numerically challenging approaches like registration and segmentation it can be applied in clinical routine, but a (semi)-automatic approach to select the triggering ROI is desirable to reduce user dependence.

Conclusion: There are only two reliable ways to accurately define the levels if no landmarking feature is available on the magnet. The first is by including C2 in the thoracic sequence of a diagnostic quality, and the second is by using an abnormality in the discs or vertebral bodies as a point of reference.
