By law, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is required to announce the Part A deductibles and Part B premium amounts, a notice that is published annually in the Federal Register. Most Medicare beneficiaries will not see a Part B monthly premium increase as a result of a "hold harmless" provision in the current law. This allows for 73 percent of beneficiaries to be protected from an increase raising the 2010 Part B monthly premiums from $96.40 to $110.50. The Administration continues to urge Congressional action that would protect all beneficiaries from higher Part B premiums and eliminate the inequity of a high premium for the remaining 27 percent of beneficiaries.
Private well water should be tested yearly, and in some cases more often. The recommendations call for annual well testing, especially for nitrate and microorganisms such as coliform bacteria, which can indicate that sewage has contaminated the well. The recommendations point out circumstances when additional testing should occur, including testing when there is a new infant in the house or if the well is subjected to structural damage.
A generation ago most ailing Americans received treatment in their hometown hospitals, no matter how rare the illness or grave the diagnosis. Today it is increasingly common to venture hundreds or thousands of miles for care. Some large insurance companies are steering patients with unusual or complex medical problems to specialized institutions. These facilities, sometimes dubbed "centers of excellence" by health experts, have more experience and better results at such difficult tasks as performing transplants or treating rare cancers. The messages request that users must create a personal H1N1 (swine flu) Vaccination Profile on the cdc.gov website. The message then states that anyone that has reached the age of 18 has to have his/her personal Vaccination Profile on the cdc.gov site. The CDC has NOT implemented a state vaccination program requiring registration on www.cdc.gov. Users that click on the email are at risk of having malicious code installed on their system.
