CONCLUSION: the description showed the need for constant regulation of the program in order to reach its goals. The low participation in actions might be related to the discreet impact of voice in professional activities, although this fact requires further investigation. The highest measured benefit of the participation in the advanced vocal groups was the reduction in the volume e of vocal symptoms. (Source: Revista CEFAC)

CONCLUSION: the conducted literature review shows that maternal depression affects not only the mother but also the overall development of the baby. The studies showed that the effects of maternal depression may negatively affect child development, language can trigger disorders, behavioral, affective, cognitive and social. Therefore, maternal depression, at a certain time after birth, may come to interfere with bonding between mother and baby and therefore should be treated as early as possible.
Relation of body posture, oral breath and nutritional status in children: a literature review

CONCLUSION: according to the reviewed studies, it is obesity, among nutritional disturbances, which generates a larger number of musculoskeletal disorders, such as impeding the control of body posture. We conclude that despite strong theoretical arguments seeking to explain a possible influence of mouth breathing on nutritional status, field studies, up to date, have failed to confirm this hypothesis, for this reason it is relevant to continue the research on these relationships. The analysis of types and tokens is more effective than TTR and differentiated statically the ages: 18, 24 and 32 months. The segmental numbers of types and tokens is a less effective measure for the grammatical description in ages and genders. (Source: Revista CEFAC)

CONCLUSION: the different speakers, studied in this research, do not have influence on the communicative profile of these children. From that, we suggest new studies, with inclusion of other speakers, in order to settle which interactive variables interfere statistically in the children's communicative profile of the autistic specter intention to contribute to the elaboration of better therapeutic offers for these people.
CONCLUSION: the distribution of extracellular matrix components of the proper lamina of the mucosa, elastic fibers, collagen fibers, hyaluronic acid and fibronectin is altered in all three disorders. There is a change in vibratory characteristics concerning amplitude, mucosal wave velocity and symmetry of vibratory pattern due to presence of increased mass in the vocal cords, contrary to what is seen in vocal cords with no disorder. Perceptual-auditory signal of vocal quality found is hoarseness, followed by breathiness and roughness (except for Reinke's edema), during speech production. In Reinke's edema, considerable reduction of voice fundamental frequency was also present. In all three lesions, there might be an incomplete glottal closure, but in Reinke's edema, depending on lesion sym...

CONCLUSION: the average SRTQ, 6.20 dB NA, was compatible with the pure tone threshold average, 7.22 dB NA at frequencies of 0.5, 1 and 2 kHz. The average SRTN -5.29 dB can be used as a benchmark to evaluate the performance of individuals with and without hearing loss. The SRTN obtained in signal/noise ratios of -3.03 to -7.55 dB may indicate good performance as for speech recognition in noise. (Source: Revista CEFAC)

Flexion position alters body dynamics, interfering in the stomatognathic functions and thoracoabdominal relationships. Vocal changes may come occur from the early stages with a decrease in maximum phonation times and vocal intensity, incomplete glottic adduction, glottic chink, vocal tremor and instability; disturbances of frequency and intensity, and changes in voice quality. Deficits in respiratory muscle strength are reflected in the lower respiratory support to vocal production and consequently in decrease of vocal intensity and maxim...

CONCLUSION: the students with learning disabilities showed lower performance in auditory processing tests, and the students with learning disorders had the highest number of altered abilities when compared with the students with dyslexia, which can be explained by the fact that this group shows reduced sustained attention. The dyslexia group showed alterations derived from the difficulty related to the auditory stimulus encoding and decoding. (Source: Revista CEFAC)

CONCLUSIONS: all disc jockeys complained on hearing loss and, among the other auditory complaints, we may emphasize discomfort under intense sound and tinnitus. Considering the irreversibility of high sound pressure induced hearing loss, the disc jockeys might be periodically evaluated as for hearing in order to confirm or discard the hearing loss they complaint. If hearing loss exist, it might be monitored, in order to make possible an intervention by the speech-language therapist. Such being the case, we may perceive the need for speech therapy concerning the disc jockeys for optimizing their professional performance with less risks. (Source: Revista CEFAC)

CONCLUSION: young women with vocal nodules showed MPT and s/z ratio measures with no significant differences in relation to the same measures for women with no laryngeal affection. The acoustic measures of glottal source were similar and within normal limits for both groups, except the quotient of variation of fundamental frequency (vf0) measure which was increased in GNL, suggesting pneumophonoarticulatory incoordination. The MPT and s/z ratio measures, even without significant differences, seemed to be more sensitive to the presence of aerodynamic prevalence of vocal nodules than the acoustic measures.
Conclusion: it was concluded that the literature review on group therapy in the area of Speech Therapy identified different practices, linked to different theoretical perspectives. This happened because there is a certain reflected adoption of concepts from other areas, without argumentation and without a restructuring demanded by the transposition to the speech therapy clinic. This is because there is no evident concern to articulate the theoretical studies to the elements that mak...

CONCLUSION: BN is characterized by an eating disorder, where there is a mainly psychological compulsive ingestion of large quantities of food, followed by episodes of self-induced vomiting in order to prevent weight gain. LPR consists of a clinical variation of gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD), in which the retrograde flow of food and stomach acid comes into contact with the larynx and its structures. In common, BN and LPR have this mechanism of regurgitation that may reach the larynx. The signs and symptoms arising from the vocal and laryngeal regurgitation of gastric acid on the larynx are: globus pharynx, dysphonia, hoarseness, dry cough, dysphagia, halitosis, inflammatory lesions on the vocal cords, laryngitis, tonsillitis, swelling and redness and / or posterior glottis of the ...

CONCLUSION: hospital trend toward "early discharge" after routine deliveries forces the audiologist to carry out the screening before 48 hours. High number of false-positives in NHS, must be seen as a Hospital Administrative Problem not only as a biologic cause, like the "vernix caseosum", and it is not related to the professional experience. Ear manipulation is strongly recommended. (Source: Revista CEFAC)

CONCLUSION: Workers exposed to occupational noise have received more attention from epidemiological studies than the elderly and neonate population. Just one population-based study was carried out following the protocol suggested by WHO. It is therefore important to carry out further studies related to hearing loss in the country in order to develop health care and assistance actions that are appropriate to the local needs.
CONCLUSIONS: children from public schools of Recife's metropolitan region have acquired the coronal fricatives later than the national literature average. It is important to highlight that there is wide linguistic and socio-cultural diversity in the Brazilian territory. For this reason data from different Brazilian regions cannot be applied homogenously in the country and therefore any attempt to determine the parameters for a phonologic evaluation ought to take this limitation into consideration, especially if such evaluation has the objective of detecting phonologic deviances. The appearance of the production mainly as scientific articles and book chapters reveals an interest both in research and in theoretical construction. The presence of the three epistemological filiations suggests the controversy and complexity of the stuttering issue, this is also suggested by the fact that the production is predominantly distributed by the Oral Sensorial Motor System and Language areas. It is needed to develop the production in the Public Health area. (Source: Revista CEFAC)

CONCLUSION: many hypotheses try to explain the existent relationship among the Temporomandibular Dysfunction and hearing alterations. We verified that there is a link between the stomatognatic system and the hearing system. However, most important than just associating the stomatognatic and hearing systems, the team has been involved in the assistance to the patients, including the speech therapy professional that must have knowledge about anatomy and physiology of the Temporomandibular Joint and related disorders, causes and consequences. The said professional should be capable to distinguish the effective therapy for each disorder and evaluate the indications and contra-indications of each one, and, finally, examine the conduct with referrals being appropriate for the case evolution.
CONCLUSION: the cross-sectional studies show ways to understand how this change in health covers signs and symptoms. Whereas the language, for being a privileged mean of communication for the aphasic people, the loss of this instrument becomes a source of isolation and loneliness. Thus, the identification of individuals with aphasia may contribute to accurate diagnosis, confirming the understanding of speech pathology findings on language and assisting in the rehabilitation. But, these scientific evidences should be effected at all longitudinal studies in order to support the creation of new techniques and strategies for recovering the injured brain, favoring the improvement of communication and in consequence the interactivity.
CONCLUSION: it was confirmed that both the transient-evoked otoacoustic emissions (TEOAE) and distortion-product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE) are useful in the early diagnosis of and the TEOAE and are more sensitive to temporary alterations in the DPOAE threshold, and DPOAE stand out more effectively in the early diagnosis of NIHL in individuals with apparently normal hearing responses by capturing responses more acute frequencies in that are first affected in NIHL. It is also believed that this study can benefit the population on the NIHL prevention and control and foment the creation of public policies that shall contribute to the prevention of hearing impairment within the occupational field.
CONCLUSIONS: it was possible to identify a close relation among feeding disorders and parafunctional habits, which makes easy for an articulation disorder to take place, mainly with a change in tongue-tip and teeth-ridge phonemes. As for the language, the children showed a language delay of around one year when compared to those of the same age group. (Source: Revista CEFAC)

CONCLUSION: we believe that vocal health of teachers is largely related to occupational aspects, even if we did not find statistically significant associations in all investigated. The preventive actions are to capitalize on the importance of multi-or interdisciplinary performances, on the works to raise awareness of the importance of voice in the education process, on the identification and mitigation of risk factors, on vocal enhancement programs and on voice integration among all actors involved with the school.
