Abstract
3D cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images offer a unique and new appreciation of the anatomical structures and underlying anomalies not possible with conventional radiographs. However, in almost all aspects of CBCT imaging, from utilization to application, inherent limitations and pitfalls exist. Importantly, these inherent limitations and pitfalls have practical implications which need to be addressed before the potential of this technology can be fully realized. The purpose of this review was to explore the current limitations and pitfalls associated with CBCT imaging to allow for better and more accurate understanding of the possibilities this imaging modality could offer, particularly pertaining to 3D cephalometry.

    Abstract
Infantile hemangioma(IH) is one of the most common benign tumors in infants characterized by occurrence within a few weeks after birth, rapid growth during the first year and spontaneous involution over a period of several years.Despite the high incidence rate of 5%-10% in infants of mixed European descent, detailed pathogenesis of IH remains elusive. Recent studies have indicated multipotential stem cells derived from hemangioma tissue(HemSCs) could recapitulate human infantile hemangioma in immunodeficient mice. Considering the effect of progesterone on regulation of cytokines and growth factors in endometrium as well as the inhibition of immune response, using progesterone during pregnancy might help the HemSCs escape from the ...

    Abstract
This paper reported a case of right maxillary first molar that presented six root canals. Root canal therapy and case management were described. The importance of looking for additional canals and unusual canal morphology was addressed, because knowledge of their existence might occasionally enable clinicians to treat a case successfully that otherwise might have ended in failure.

Authors: Dai JW, Wang XD, Sun H, Jiang WH, Lu JT, Shen GF
The first branchial arch malformation (FBAM) is a rare congenital defect associated with anomalous development of the first and second branchial arches. Cause of FBAM still remains unknown, and is thought in most cases to be multifactorial, involving both genetic and enviromental factors. Dlx2 as a member of the Dlx homeobox gene family, plays a crucial role in the development of the first branchial arch. The tissues regulated mainly by Dlx2 are coincident with the tissues mainly involved in FBAM. Dlx2 over-expression generated by electroporation transfection can disturb the migration and differentiation of cranial neural crest cells (CNCCs), which migrate to the branchial arches and in turn give rise to much of the facial skele...

CONCLUSIONS: Neuroreceptors do exist in the tissue of peri-implant bone, but much less than the periodontal ligament. These neuroreceptors could receive electrical stimulus then evoke SNAP of the inferior alveolar nerve stem. In unloaded condition, the reconstruction of never endings in the peri-implant bone tissue is apparently time-dependent.
Authors: Zhao Y, Han QB, Liu B
The growth and enlargement of jaw cysts are associated with raised intracystic pressure and bone resorption surrounding the cysts. The major bone-resorbing cells are the osteoclasts. They are acting under the influence of local bone-resorbing factors: prostaglandins, proteinases and cytokines. It was found that positive pressure enhanced the expression of IL-1αmRNA and protein in epithelial cells of odontogenic keratocyst, and increased the secretion of matrix metalloproteinase and PGE2 in a co-culture of odontogenic keratocyst fibroblasts and epithelial cells. However, the signal intensities for IL-1αmRNA and protein in the epithelium were significantly decreased after marsupialization which relived intracystic pressure. Experimental study indicated th...

Root canals have a lot of variations in maxillary second molar and most molar have only three root canals. The emergence of 4 root canals in maxillary second molar with two palatal root canals is especially rare. A case of 5 root canals in maxillary second molar with two palatal root canals and two mesiobuccal root canals was successfully treated and reported in this article.

This paper reported a case with hereditary enamel maldevelopment. A 18-year-old female sought for dental treatment due to all teeth with yellowish-brown, anterior open bite and occluso-cervical strips of smooth enamel alternating with pitted, wrinkled, or exposed dentin, and vertical dimension decreased. The same disease also happened in her other family members. Her teeth lesions were preliminarily treated, and further treatment plan was provided.
