<description>This report assesses the impact of the NHS Commissioning Board Special Health Authority’s functions on equality. It examines the functions of the Authority, recommending actions to ensure that it is compliant with the Equality Act 2010 and meets the new Public Sector Equality Duty. It concludes that the establishment of the Special Health Authority is unlikely to impact negatively on people sharing the protected characteristics covered by the Act. However, there are opportunities to advance equality in the design of future NHS Commissioning Board functions, embedding fairness and equity in its establishment from the outset.

<description>This survey took place in October 2011 and involved 97 organisations across the Civil Service. A key element of the survey is the ‘Employee Engagement Index’. This is based on evidence of a link between highly-engaged staff, high levels of health and well-being and organisational performance. A total of 73 per cent of Department of Health staff took part in the survey in 2011, an increase of 6 per cent compared with 2010. The Employee Engagement Index was calculated at 53 percent in 2011 which is 2 percent lower than 2010 and two percent lower than the Civil Service average for 2011.

<description>This was an enquiry into the Nicholson Challenge which required the NHS to save £20bn. It criticises the NHS for taking short-term measures to make these savings but suggest that a more sustainable approach is needed. It identifies service integration over management change as a key example of this.

<description>The previous Government published its strategy for adults with autism in England, &amp;#39;Fulfilling and rewarding lives&amp;#39;, on 3 March 2010, and its first year delivery plan on 2 April 2010. The 2009 Autism Act placed a statutory requirement on the Government to publish guidance by December 2010, which is expected to be consulted on this summer. This briefing summarises the key points of Fulfilling and rewarding lives and the first year delivery plan that accompanies it, focusing particularly on what it means for the NHS. <title>Implementing the Health Act 2006: review of fees for applications to provide pharmaceutical services in England: consultation document</title>
            <link>http://www.medworm.com/index.php?rid=2885561&amp;cid=s_38829_51_f&amp;fid=38829&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fkingsfund.blogs.com%2Fhealth_management%2F2009%2F10%2Fimplementing-the-health-act-2006-review-of-fees-for-applications-to-provide-pharmaceutical-services-.html</link>
            <description>The
NHS Pharmaceutical Services (Fees for Applications) Directions 2008 (as amended
in April 2008) came into force on 21 April 2008 and specify the types of
application for which a fee will be payable and the levels of such fees. The
government undertook during the passage of the Health Bill 2006 to consider a
general review of this measure 18 months after it was introduced. This consultation
seeks comments and views on the impact of charging on the NHS, pharmacy and
appliance contractors and applicants and whether or not the current fees
represent a fair contribution to NHS costs. (Department
