Consumer-Driven Healthcare: Why It Will Fail

With the creation of consumer-driven health plans and health insurance policies with high deductibles linked to a savings option, more financial responsibility shouldered by patients and employees and less by employers was completely inevitable. The American public likes to have everything, whether consumer electronics or other services, as cheap as possible. With escalating healthcare expenses rising far more rapidly than wages or inflation, it’s not surprising employers needed a way to manage this increasingly-costly business expense.
In the past, companies faced a similar dilemma. It wasn’t about medical costs, but managing increasingly expensive retirement and pension plan obligations. Years ago, companies moved from these defined benefit plans to defined contribution plan...

A few days ago I told you about my project to collect as many good quality clinical videos in one place. Well, as of today I have more than a 100 videos on my YouTube channel with more than a 100,000 views. I still have a lot of videos to upload and a lot of editing, organizing, and labeling to do. In the mean while I would appreciate your support by rating the videos and sharing them with your medical friends. I am not sure how long YouTube will tolerate the explicit genital, rectal, and breast examination videos. So you should hurry up and watch or download those. Some of them were rejected once they were up on the site. An other issue is copyrights. Most of the videos have permissions and others dont. So i am not sure what the deal is with those. Ill have to wait and see.Check out the v...

What to Do In An Economic Crisis

First, don’t panic.
The cause of many people’s angst and misery during an economic crisis is surely money-related, but we also multiply it by worrying unnecessarily. Worry won’t change the situation, nor bring back any money you may have lost. Yes, I know that’s easier said than done, but most people’s losses are in their 401(k) retirement funds. These are long-term funds meant to weather the occasional stock market storm. So even if you’ve lost a quarter or half of your retirement savings in the pa...
