I was “Just Talking” to Chris during his time on DSMA Live last week. We were sharing about relying on our CGM devices, sometimes to our own undoing (like when we forget our meters at home). He mentioned that by the last few days of his sensor life, the adhesive is hardly hanging on. I used to have that problem too. Every few days I would apply a new batch of medical tape to all sides of the adhesive. It was a sticky mess! Not only that, but I am very sensitive to tape products. I would end up with itchy red burn-like spots if I wore the tape too long.I can’t remember where, but I read online about a different solution. The product is called Opsite Flexifix and I purchase it on Amazon. I am not a doctor and this is not medical advice. I am just telling you what works for me. Your diabetes...

Navigating bike lanes and traffic during your morning commute can be tough without a caffeine boost, but as always, there’s a product for everything: “The Morning Rush Coffee Holder Kit,” a reusable coffee mug and holder that attaches to your bike, lets you stick your caffeine front and center. And at $39.99, it’s pretty affordable. But we’re more worried about potential facial burn after trying to sip hot java from our two-wheel rides. via Social Workout

Newspapers suck. Not only are they good for just one day, but they’re delivered inside those long plastic bags that you can’t use for anything else. That is, unless you’re a designer for Garbage of Eden, in which case you turn those useless plastic bags into clever, multicolored bangles. These handmade accessories turn unnecessary waste into essential style, and with three different color patterns, you can match them with pretty much anything.
Have a look. And if you like what you see, buy them right here, right now on Blisstree through our partners at the OpenSky Project.
Take your pick for $17 each:
New York Times blue and black

Barnes and Noble green

We’ve heard of cork board, cork shoes, even cork furniture. But there’s another eco-friendly product made of recycled cork that we hadn’t heard of until now — cork purses. But, man — were we missing out. We love the understated elegance of Peasants and Travelers‘ cork Doctor’s Bag, which we found while browsing Eco Salon.
It’s fashioned from remnants of wine bottle corks from Portugal that have been smashed and laminated, but the material is flexible and waterproof. The rest of the bag is made from reclaimed materials, like its cotton dress shirt lining. And at $150, it’s a forever piece that isn’t too much of an investment.

When it’s a beach day, we definitely can use a little shelter from the sun, wind, and unexpected torrents of rain (Sometimes we forget to check the weather, okay?) If only we could have this beautiful Folding Beach Hut, created by design student Josif Neema. It neatly closes up into a portable, box structure.
We found this sweet little shelter while browsing The Alternative Consumer’s gallery of green architectural concepts. Check it out for some other innovative and eco-friendly design ideas.

The bath room is the most crucial space in your entire home. This is not only because it is a biological necessity to do what needs to be done “when nature calls.” Psychologically, the bath room represents a space of calmness, solitude and security, which are very comfortable when combined in just the right measure. And especially when you have a physical problem such as arthritis, your bath room becomes even more of a place where comfort needs to reign supreme. Naturally, there are a variety of little things you can add to your bath room, in order to add the most important thing – your ultimate comfort.

The slogans say a lot -- but the accomplishments of Carolyn Jones, Founder and President/CEO of Privacy, say a whole lot more.Think about this:Jones lost her mother to breast cancer on November 16, 2000 during a time when too many questions about the disease were left unanswered and not enough options were available for women fighting for their lives.Times have changed, in part due to outspoken pioneers like Jones, who are spreading the word and funding the cause.Part of the Privacy corporate goal is to support medical research and to educate women about early detection an...
