In conclusion, PRP is a highly effective medical treatment for ligament, tendon, muscle and other knee/shoulder injuries as well as lower back pain. Even patients with post-operative knee pain or shoulder pain can benefit from PRP therapy. Outcomes are entirely dependent on the preparation and handling of the blood, equipment used and experience as well as skill of the treating physician. Additional information on PRP can be found at PRP Stops Pain. Excellent clinical study references can be found by clicking here. (Source: Sarasota Neurology)

Achilles tendon fix may not need surgery

Back in February, ruptured Achilles tendon made news because of an injury to Montreal Canadiens’ forward Robert Lang. He had severed his Achilles tendon during a game against the Boston Bruins. As is usually the case, he has surgery to repair the tendon and the latest news is that he should be back to playing form by the next season.
Now, researchers have found that surgery may not always be necessary to fix a torn Achilles tendon, which may be good news, particularly for people who aren’t good candidates for surgery.
According to this news release from the University of Gothenburg, Surgery may not be necessary for Achilles tendon rupture , there was no difference between patients who had surgery to stitch back together their tendon and those who didn’t: all patients had thei...

Hector, Achilles, and Rage (a video)

This video of Hector and Achilles fighting before the walls of Troy (as related in Book 22 of the Iliad) has nothing to do with autism. My students in my summer school class on “Epic, Ancient and Modern,” wrote the scripts, made costumes, and acted out scenes and filmed them, and presented them to the other students in the program. But there is that matter of the rage of Achilles and the rage a parent can feel………. “Achilles” is on the left and “Hector” is on the right.

What's worse than Achilles tendonitis that won't go away? Crashing down on that ankle while you are attempting to hang xmas lights, that's what. I now have a swollen ankle, a bruised coccyx, cut right thumb, black and blue arm and a nasty gash on the left hand to go with the sore ankle.I should have stuck to plan A, which was to leave the poor trees and shrubs alone. But it is yuletide and a few lights make the yard so pretty. Next year I'm going with something manageable like this. (Source: It's My Life, People)
