Racist Rant? Morrissey Calls Chinese People "Subspecies" for Animal Cruelty

In a recent interview with Guardian Weekend magazine, Morrissey, our favorite mopey musician, said that the people of China were a subspecies because of the way they treat animals. And, while this is an inflammatory statement that any sensible human (celebrity or not) would retract, Morrissey is standing by his words:
“If anyone has seen the horrific and unwatchable footage of the Chinese cat and dog trade – animals skinned alive – then they could not possibly argue in favour of China as a caring nation. There are no animal protection laws in China and this results in the worst animal abuse and cruelty on the planet. It is indefensible.”
So, is Morrissey racist? Or is he just voicing what many animal rights advocates actually think, but are afraid to say on...

The Cat Test….. Which One Are YOU?

The Cat Test (feline9)
To identify emotionally disturbed individuals accurately, Algozzine, Foster, & Kaufman (1979) developed the CAT TEST. This simple, yet novel test is easily administered by professionals, parents, and aides. It involves three simple steps:
1) place testee in empty room facing far wall;
2) place cat in center of room, close and latch door;
3) after 10 minutes, open the door.
Algozzine et al., note that the CAT TEST allows fine discriminations between subclassifications of emotional disturbance . They offer the following guidelines for interpretation of results:
1. OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE— four neat, meticulous piles of fur to be found in the corners of room - cat alive, but cold.
2. SOCIALIZED DELINQUENT— fur scattered randomly about room and on testee - ...

Update on Bob the Turtle and his Owners

In July, a 42-pound African tortoire named Bob was stolen from the backyard of his home in Ventura, California, and mutilated by Jose “Tony” Mosqueda. Mosqueda was sentenced today to 270 days in jail and 5 years probation for felony animal cruelty, according to KNBC.com. Bob survived some horrific treatment: His legs and neck were slashed and his shell punctured; he was thrown against a wall. Mosqueda had to pay $5,400 in veterinary bills and other costs.
Meanwhile, the family who owns the tortoise says their pain continues, and the ordeal has been particularly hard on a 12-year-old autistic boy who was making great strides in his development before the vicious attack. The boy’s mother, Dorothy Sullivan, said the tortoise, named Bob, was her son’s lifeline “ou...

He’s Killing Cats…What Can I Do?.

Next door to my daughter lives a little boy of 8 years old. He can be very irritating but yet endearing in a strange way. He is small for his age and is very loud. He wears glasses and has for several years. His father is a career military man and this little boy idolizes him. He sits and watches the Military Channel for hours at a time. He wears mostly camo clothes and has a lot of toy guns. Not a good environment for a small boy, in my opinion.
His step-father is a city policeman and he and the boy’s mother have a 10 month old baby. They dote on the baby, a little girl. I have been so sadden watching them cuddle and kiss the baby while the boy runs around totally unnoticed.
My daughter has brought him to my house a few times to be nice to him. We’ve shown him attention and tr...

Asshattery at its Finest

Childhood bipolar disorder? Sub-threshold bipolar? Fuggetaboutit. The DSM IV needs to add this….Asshattery.
“So it’s a federal crime to be mean to dogs? Who knew?”

Lawrence O’Donnell. Never heard of him until today.

“What’s wrong with what Michael Vick did? I have no inclination to do what he did with dogs, but I have no comprehension of what all the fuss is about. Most people who are upset about killing dogs or letting them attack each other have at some point in their lives caught a fish, which is as extreme a form of murderous torture of an animal as I can imagine.”

Those poor “pit bulls” Slammed to the ground until dead, drowned, watered down and then electrocuted, hung…..because they did what? Didn’t fight...
