Introducing Panic About Anxiety

Lots of people experience panic attacks. For some people, it can get so bad that they also get agoraphobia — the fear of leaving one’s house. So I’m happy to introduce Panic About Anxiety with Summer Beretsky, a blog that will explore panic, agoraphobia and even topics about general anxiety in upcoming entries.
If you’re not familiar with Summer, you can check out her archives at the World of Psychology blog. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware, where she received her Master of Arts degree in Communication. She enjoys writing about her experiences with anxiety, panic, and Paxil. She contributes to the World of Psychology blog here on PsychCentral and has written for the Los Angeles Times. You can follow her on Twitter @summerberetsky. You can read more about her here.

Online CBT Effective for Panic, Agoraphobia?

In the first phase of the Internet in the 1990s, we witnessed how it broke down mental health barriers by providing individuals with information about mental disorders and treatment options. Before 1990 or so, the only way to look up the “official” symptoms for a disorder was either to get to a local library that had a copy of the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, or ask a mental health professional or advocacy group about the symptoms (and hope they don’t leave out anything).
But the Internet broke down the arbitrary wall — that this information was somehow “special” and shouldn’t be given to people directly. People suddenly could learn about depression, or anxiety, or ADHD on their own without ever leaving their home. With gr...

If you or someone you know is confined to your home due to anxiety, fear, panic, OCD, or other issues, there may be help available to you.
A new documentary project for a major cable network wants to shed light on the severity of such illnesses as well as aid participants in their treatment process. A prominent, board certified psychiatrist will offer help to those who are ready to make a change.

The first wave of nausea hit me as I was setting up my laptop. I instinctively held my breath and fought to force the feeling back from whence it came whilst glancing around me nervously to see if anybody was noticing my rising panic levels.
All seemed well as people were chatting and paying little attention to me, but that was the last time that day I had that feeling.

So what the hell was I doing here about to demo a technical product to people that had forgotten more about the subject than I ever knew?
At that stage the n...

Acupressure point to relieve and prevent anxiety, nervousness, panic attacks, palpitations and poor sleep. Comment: Another good pressure point is the slight hollow on the neck low down at the back of each ear. One side is usually more responsive than the other, and its not always the same side. Use firm but not hard pressure. (Source: Latest entries from www.anxietyinsights.info)
