It’s October and Mental Health Awareness Week! How are you celebrating?
Yep, there’s no denying it’s fall. I went to the park this weekend and the crispy air and falling leaves were signs that this is indeed the end of the ease of summer and the beginning of a new season.
Every ending has a new beginning and like New Year’s it is another opportunity for self-growth and change. It beckons us to ask the question, “Will I embrace the coming season or mourn the lost of the one before?”
If you are courageous, brave and on a mission for change, then you’ll be tickled with this week’s top posts.
Why?

Do you remember the scene in Bridget Jones’s Diary where Bridget’s enemy Mark Darcy suddenly turns into the love of her life over night wi...

First of all there is nothing like being involved in a midget porn scandal to take your mind off having cancer. I really can't comment more than that. So I now need to drivein to Mass general every two weeks to have my oncologist look at my boobs, look at the computer and say you're ok, come back in two weeks. The appointment thing is not bad, it's the driving in that is a pain in the ass. When i had chemo, it was a long appointment and a good excuse to have Meghan come with me. She would drive, and we could take the HOV lane without issue, and I didn't have to pay attention to driving, which is why I never noticed that every time I go to MGH there is a Duck Bus stalking me, or maybe not but they seem to be everywhere and I have never been on one, maybe I should suggest that as an activity...

Photo albums? So last year. A book? We’d rather read our Nook. If you missed the e-memo: Bound is out, digital is in.
When you upgrade from paper to PDF, it’s time to toss your old journal. Thanks to new online diary services, you can use the Internet to unleash your inner Bridget Jones. Here are three of our fave places to soul-search on the World Wide Web:

Penzu – Like the bound journals of yore, Penzu is a simple, straight-up diary platform. Its pages look like lined paper, and you can add digital photos through Flickr. You choose whether to keep your profile and journal private, or share entries with friends. (free)
Cozi – This family journal blows your pen and paper off the table. It’s designed to be a collaborative journal, calendar, and communication service f...

More Stress Relief for Caregivers - Yoga and Meditation to Clear the Tension

An important part of caregiver's self-care is reducing tension that builds up after a day of caregiving. Caregivers may feel tired, lacking in enthusiasm, and uninterested in their usual activities if the stress of caregiving has been overwhelming. Yoga and meditation have become common ways to reduce stress and tension in our culture. Below is a video featuring one of England's leading yoga teachers, Bridget Woods Kramer, of the Anusara School of Yoga. Her meditation and yoga were filmed on the clifftops of Cornwall, England, above the ocean. She is England's Anusara Yoga representative, and she travels all over Europe giving workshops. Relax and enjoy. (Source: The Caregiver's Beacon - Resources, Links, Ideas, News)

Bridget Gray's Letter to Hip Hop

OK, so I am impressed with this video. I found it in a myspace bulletin posted by a friend of mine. You might wonder why I am posting a letter to hip hop from a spoken word performer, and why I might present you the option of hearing her feelings exposed. It is simple. I am for the empowerment of everyone and the cutting of our shackles. It is time for empowerment of women and freedom from superficial, material emptiness. It is time for conscious awareness of the messages we share. Please note that the use of the N-word in this piece is an integral part of the message and although it may be taken offensively, it is used to make a point. I would love to hear what you think of this piece. Thank you to my friend A* for your inspiration.Categories: Bridget+Grey A+Letter+to+Hip+Hop spoken+word...
