If you want to excel in your career path to the point that you pass even your dad, who has obviously spent a few extra decades in the job field, work will be involved. It takes a whole lot of effort to move up so rapidly that you condense a few decades into a few years.
Get ready for the role reversal, dad.
But it’s not necessarily back-breaking work. In this instance, it’s a case of working smarter, not physically harder. If you wish to rise quickly, here’s a trajectory to consider, complete with some necessary steps.
1. Always focus on resume building. Every employer uses a resume to quantify job candidates, and an outstanding resume quickly starts you out on the path to superstardom. Every opportunity that comes your way should be thought of in terms of whether it’s something yo...

By Daniel J. MitchellThere are plenty of reason to like and dislike the tax deal between President Obama and congressional leaders. On the plus side, we dodge a big tax increase for the next two years. We also replace a goofy and ineffective “make work pay” tax credit with a supply-side oriented reduction in the payroll tax rate (albeit only for one year, so there probably won’t be much economic benefit).
On the negative side, the deal extends unemployment benefits, which has the perverse effect of subsidizing unemployment. The deal is also filled with all sorts of corrupt provisions for various interest groups such as ethanol producers.
Then there are provisions such as the 35 percent death tax. Is this bad news, because it is an increase from zero percent this year? Or ...

How to Build Self Esteem Forever

Self-esteem is the way you judge and look at yourself. Some people believe that their appearance will enhance their level of self-esteem, but in reality, having high self-esteem comes from the ability to see yourself special and unique all the time.
Do you see yourself as special and unique? Do you have high self-esteem? Do you love yourself?
No?

Here is a quick 5-point guide to build self esteem when you forget how great you are:
1. Believe in your inner beauty
Don’t say to yourself that you are not beautiful nor unique. Know that every person is unique and true gift to the world. There is no one on earth like you and you have a lot to offer to humanity.
2. Believe in your mind power
Know that the way you see yourself comes from the power of your thoughts and mind. U...

Dating confidence tips to get you and your date relaxed and having an unforgettable time…

Nervously early for his date, Dave had plenty of time to notice his sweating palms.
“Oh great! What if she wants to shake hands?” He briefly imagined his date’s hand slipping from his like an eel from a greased plate and started feeling a little sick as he frantically dabbed his palms with a napkin. A waiter watched with a seen-it-all blend of sympathy and disdain.
“Just be yourself!” his flatmate – a regular man of the world with more dating confidence than a roomful of James Bonds – had advised. “Blimey, it’s only a date!”
“What does ‘just be yourself’ even mean?” Dave retorted in a panicked tone, trying to cover his shaving rash with an extra-wide 1970s s...

Personal development, maximizing your potential, goals setting, motivating yourself for the better – these are some of the inter-related things that you need to work on as an individual. Here, we will set our sights on the many ways that you can develop motivation in life.
The Importance of Finding Out what Motivates You
First, let’s find out what the importance of motivation exactly is. Simply put, motivation is that driving force which allows you to achieve your goals and go after what you want in life. If you want to change your personality for the better, get a promotion at work, start a new habit, be a better person who is part of the community, become a better parent for your kid – all of these things would be easier accomplished if you are properly motivated.
As long as you ha...

According to those who follow the cycle of the moon, the solar eclipse that took place on January 15 is actually the day we should all be making New Year resolutions. Whether it be January 1st or the 15th, we all tend to feel pressure to ‘resolve’ ourselves to do something when January rolls around: lose weight, workout, spend less, make amends. Ultimately, when we revisit New Year’s Eve on that same year, we look back and realize we have fallen short, or even worse, haven’t accomplished any of these resolutions. And if we haven’t had enough champagne to dull the nagging sense of failure, we are left feeling a little defeated, maybe lazy or worse, without real direction in our lives.
Why do we torture ourselves like this?
And what exactly is a ‘resolution’ anyway? A...

You know what it’s like to feel unmotivated. You sit and stare at your to-do list, and nothing on it inspires you at all. It’s just a string of tasks that you wish you didn’t have to do. Simply getting started seems to take an unfathomable amount of effort.
Yet, you don’t always feel that way. You know what motivation feels like, too. You have times when you can’t wait to get started on something – a much-anticipated trip, a big project that you’ve been looking forward to sinking your teeth into, a new course that you’re taking, or a job which is going to be so satisfying when it’s done.
So how can you make sure that you are motivated, whatever the task at hand?

SBI is currently offering a special buy one get one free holiday promotion. This is their best offer of the year.
This is an extra optional bonus where you can get a second SBI subscription for a friend or relative (or even yourself) for FREE instead of the regular $299 price.
This offer is only good until midnight on December 25th, 2009, so if you want to take advantage of it, now is the time to look into this and make a decision.
SBI sometimes runs other promos like getting a second subscription for $100, but this one is their most generous and popular promo of the year by far.
This is a great deal for couples, for a parent and child, or for two friends, since the two of you can build your own online businesses together.
What Is SBI?

It’s already known that your oral health – the condition of your gums, in particular – can have an effect on your heart healthy, but now researchers are finding that there may also be a connection with head and neck cancers.
Chronic periodontitis, progressive bone loss and loosening of soft tissue surrounding the teeth, was to add to the risk of head and neck cancers, in particular, cancers in the mouth. In a study published in the most recent issue of Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, researchers came to this conclusion after after studying 463 patients (207 control patients).
“Although the study is comparatively small, the researchers were able to also see an association between bone loss and the risk of head and neck cancer.”

Yes, You Can:
New research suggests we can build our willpower
-- By Daniel Goleman
Those of us who struggle to resist junk foods or otherwise suffer a lack of willpower will be heartened by some good news from neuroscience. But there's some bad news, too.
First, the bad news. A slew of studies suggest that we each have a fixed neural reservoir of willpower, and that if we use it on one thing, we have less for others. Tasks that demand some self-control make it harder for us to do the next thing that takes willpower.

Rebecca Turner is a successful online entrepreneur who created a website to teach people about lucid dreaming, aptly named World of Lucid Dreaming. She’s been a regular participant in our discussion forums. After watching her openly share eBusiness tips with other forum members over a period of months, I asked her if I could interview her for my blog, so she can share what she’s learned with many more people.
Rebecca used Site Build It! to create her website. Since many people are curious about what kind of real-world results can be achieved with Site Build It!, I asked her if she’d be willing to share specific traffic and income figures from her business’ first year online, and thankfully she agreed. I think you’ll find her results encouraging.

Under what possible circumstances would my parents have taken me to the European equivalent of Build a Bear with 50 bucks in my hot little hand? They would have had to have won the Lotto! Someone must have had a near death experience! Maybe my birthday and I had behaved like an angel for 365 days! They all seem equally unlikely.I move forward a couple of decades and re-examine the circumstances under which I would have taken my first child to such an establishment? Single parents are often short of cash. It would definitely have been a special treat or over compensation for guilt, another fringe benefit of single parenthood.
Jerry Greenfield's Community Building Knack

Business and caring communities intersect naturally for Jerry Greenfield … co-founder of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream. Do they come together where you work? Most would agree that a firm’s economic and creative pulse depend on rhythms of emotionally intelligent and motivated work communities. Yet too often we hear more about toxins than caring tactics at work. The problem solving and technology challenges continue to grow rapidly … while the number of people who bring a community building knack to work, is increasingly shrinking.Sadly, there is an alarming lack of interest in nurturing communities within some business bureaucracies. What would it take to tap into the brainpower of even one community builder … and ensure an organization consistently cares?...

How do you spark stress free conversations that are both interesting and informative. Research shows that we each get hit with about 22 stressors each day. Were you aware, though, how good tone turn stressors into learning adventures.People who tend to ask 2-footed questions that draw from humanity as much as from the topic they speak to, help transform stressors into learning. Watch them engage and reflect on other viewpoints, and you also learn the value of tone in the face of conflict. On the opposite side … have you noticed how one opinionated person, without much desire to learn or grow, can suddenly change investigations into wars? No need to panic when that happens, luckily.Recent research shows how stress makes people fail to reverse, “I can’t&rdq...

With the fade of mega firms and the rise of entrepreneurs, many leaders look to networks as a way to cultivate and sustain business. Where do you network?I’ve been thinking or starting a MITA Network Association called Entrepreneurs With the Brain in Mind. Emphasis on BRAIN – this group would do 5 things: B- build transformational leadersR -rejuvenate creative centersA -align revenue streams to ideasI - interact with diverse thinkersN -nurture brain based growthSpeaking of nurturing brain based growth … imagine the zip added to a Rotary group … that supported an arm for entrepreneurs and tackled any of these five initiatives. Or consider the strength added to your faith related groups … that brought together and encouraged its...

It's Misconception that Opposites Attract

We often hear that opposites attract … but it’s usually not so. Why do you think racial slurs continually pop up. Recently in the elevator, I heard two co-workers discussing a mixed race couple from their firm. One manager said … “I hope they realize what they’re up against…” and the other shot back … "they likely have no idea what they’re in for."Why then, do we think opposites attract? Maybe it’s because we see more openness than in past?” Look closer though. Deeper differences of color, race, religion, and ethnicity don’t usually attract one another – and often polarize and diminish people in cruel ways. Are we simply deceived? No question - many people attribute some growth in interracial ...
