What do you fear in your everyday life? One common answer would probably be to be criticized. To stand there and hear those words streaming out of someone’s mouth and feel stupid or feel rejected or like you are getting smaller and smaller.

Not all tasks of the day are inspiring, fun or exciting. Some just feel dull or boring. But you still have to wash those dishes and take care of those monotone, routine tasks at work or in school.
So what can you do to not get lost in procrastination? How can you get going with those tasks you don’t feel much like doing and get to done?
In this article I’ll share how I do it, how I get some motivation and find more pleasure in what may seem to be a boring task.

What is holding you back from trying new things and improving your life in big or small ways in your daily life?
When you boil it down it is most often not about anything outside of you. Or that is at least not the biggest reason why you feel paralyzed. It’s the fear that gets to you.
It holds you back from trying something new for lunch, a new place for the evening out or a new hobby because you feel somewhat afraid that you’ll have a bad experience. So you stick to your u...

I thought up this idea 3 weeks prior when I decided I should finally do an Aprils Fools post. This idea seemed like the perfect combination of various things I’d written about previously (wanting to build a staff, not having a regular job, domination and submission), enough to make it sound semi-plausible. I still thought it was pretty ridiculous and wondered if anyone would really buy into the idea that the poor state of the economy is a justification for enslaving people.
How can you build your own business that lets you live the life you want? How can you make a living out of your passions and quit your day job?
These are two of the most popular questions among people working online via blogs or websites today. They are also two of the most common questions I have received over the last few years.
Who should you learn from in this case? Why not the people who have done what you want to do and created their own small business empires online?
In this review I will take a closer look at Chris Guillebeau’s Empire Building Kit. This is a course based mainly around case studies of people that are already running their own small and successful businesses online (they earn earn $50,000 to $150,000 a year) and a sort of email school that runs a whole year – yes...

Share One good way to reduce the stress in your daily life and save time for something more enjoyable and/or more important is to cut down on the time you spend on email.
Here is how I have done that over the past year or so.
Effective spamfilters.
My regular email service provider here in Sweden did some changes. This meant that I got a lot more spam every day. So I switched to using Gmail instead and these days I receive extremely few spam emails. This does not only save me from a lot of deleting but also makes it easier to quickly get an overview of new emails.
Shorter replies.
In many cases you don’t have to write a lot in a reply. I try to stick to just writing 1-5 sentences if possible.
Check emails just once a day.
I check my email inbox just once ...

If you are setting a new goal or establishing a new habit then it’s pretty likely that you’ll run into a motivational low point.
A point where you just feel like giving up, like it really doesn’t matter if you continue.
What to do then?
Here’s what I do instead of giving up and going home.
Reconnect with optimism.
How you perceive what you are doing or are about to do makes a huge difference. The positive and constructive way of looking at things energizes and inspires you. It makes it easier to keep going even when you hit roadblocks.

The funny thing about a problem is that the negative feelings you may feel because of it do to a large extent not come from the problem itself. It comes from your resistance to the problem. Here are a five clues, success habits and tips from Arnold himself.
1. Believe in yourself.

“We all have great inner power. The power is self-faith. There’s really an attitude to winning. You have to see yourself winning before you win. And you have to be hungry. You have to want to conquer.”

Envy can be like a tiny devil on your shoulder that whisper words into your ear, gnashes on your soul and makes life into something that is often filled with suffering and much negativity. Or the envy can just be something that irritates and distracts you from time to time.
In any case, it doesn’t have to be that way. If you want to, then you can at least minimize it in your life.

1. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
For 20 years Napoleon Hill traveled around the US and interviewed 500 of the most successful people. This book, released in 1937, was the result and has since then sold over 15 million copies worldwide. A good place to start if you are interested in personal development as it covers a lot of time-tested advice.
I wasn’t as enthusiastic as many others about this book when I first read it. But over the last few years I have become a bigger and bigger fan of it since I have discovered for myself that much of what it says works very well. And Hill sure does a fine job of explaining the ideas in a simple and inspirational way.

Vacations can be great. You have time to spend with the people closest to you, to go traveling and to do the things you haven’t had time for during the winter and spring.
But vacations can also become spaces in time where there is much to do and where “musts” and “shoulds” fill up your time until you are back at work or school again and feel drained and not feel refreshed at all.

The past does not equal the future is a favorite saying of Tony Robbins.Unfortunately he’s dead wrong.I can understand Tony’s intent in making such a statement. Sure it’s part of his overall sales pitch, but essentially he’s telling people that they have the power to break from the past and use their power to create a new future. In general that’s a positive message to convey. Unfortunately it seems to do more harm than good. Quite often it makes people all gung ho about changes that never quite materialize. The underlying idea that we can escape the past actually wastes a lot of people’s time.I know it feels good to think about the idea that we can somehow break with the past and create a whole new future for ourselves, but how often do people actually ...

A good way to attract interesting and inspiring people into your life and to boost your overall success is to actively contribute to your field. Contributors get noticed and attract new friends and opportunities easily, and contributing is much easier than you might assume.Tired of IsolationWhen I worked as an indie game developer during the mid-90s, I felt isolated for many years. I was focused on my own projects for the most part, often working alone for days on end.I had friends, but most of them had regular jobs in other fields. After college they zigged into the job market, while I zagged into entrepreneurship. We always had fun hanging out together, but we couldn’t do much to help each other succeed professionally.Eventually I grew weary of my professional isolation. I wanted t...

“Three Rules of Work: Out of clutter find simplicity; From discord find harmony; In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.”
Albert Einstein
After having spent over 3 years with writing on this website – thank you all for the support during the years! – I have done much work online and like to keep my life here simple.
I do things that way because I want to spend most of my time doing creative stuff like writing. Or hanging out with friends and people close to me. Or just relaxing. So I want to keep my life as simple and relaxing and free of unnecessary negative stuff as possible.

I write short emails. I tend write emails containing only a few sentences, usually between one and five. If you focus on keeping it short and focused then you’ll prob...

“Move out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new.”
Brian Tracy
One big problem that I used to run into is that you simply don’t seem to be able to get started with making a change.
You want to make a change but feel stuck. You don’t seem to be able to take action and start moving.
If you feel this is a challenge for you then here’s what I have done to get out of such a place. Perhaps you’ll find something useful in my experience.
Do a reality check.
It’s actually pretty simple to get started. Even if you feel stuck. It may however not be as easy as you wish and there lies a problem.
Making a change isn’t that easy and it will...

Simply getting up from the chair, stopping all the theorizing and getting started is one of the biggest issues I believe people face. But to keep going until something is finished can also be a big issue (it has certainly been so at times for me at least).
I have however found a few solutions that work for me and help me to reach the finish line. Feel free to chime in with your own solutions that work for you in the comments.
Let go of perfectionism.
This has been a pretty big issue for me in the past. You want to polish everything until it is “perfect”. The problem is just that such thinking often leads to many things not ever being finished.
So you have to find a balance for yourself where you do good work and don’t slack...

“He who knows others is learned;
He who knows himself is wise.”
Lao-tzu
Who are you? What is your daily and weekly life really about?
Those not always easy questions to answer. So today I’d like to share three tips that have helped me to get to know myself a bit better and to see my life more accurately.
1. What part of you do you see in them?
What we see in others is quite often what we see in ourselves. And what irritates us in people may be what we don’t like in ourselves. What you judge in someone you are actually judging in yourself.
Therefore what you notice and what irritates you in others can teach you important things about yourself. Things you may not be aware of. In a way people can be like a mirror for you. A...

Since 1999, I’ve been attending the SXSW interactive conference off and on over the years. This year’s SXSWi conference (one leg of the annual three-leg SXSW interactive, film and music festival) was in some ways no different than in years past, but in other ways, way different (with its highest attendance yet — somewhere between 13,000 and 14,000 people). Here are a few tidbits of random insights from this year’s conference outing.
1. Keynotes are Key
Conference-goers look forward to the keynotes. They are, by definition, the highlight of the day and sometimes of the entire conference. Keynotes cannot just be individuals promoting their own work, product or company (and believing the audience can generalize from this usually very-unique set of experiences). They ne...

I daresay this is the best book on workflow management I’ve ever read — and I’ve read a LOT of books on that subject. The book just came out this week, and last I checked it was in the top 30 books on Amazon.com (#1 in the Time Management category). I predict that this book is going to be a huge hit and a long-term classic in its field.I met Michael at a leadership retreat in January, and we spoke on the phone for about an hour last week to discuss some of his ideas. He shared what I considered some truly elegant workflow management strategies, so I was eager to read his book and learn the whole system he developed. I’m seldom impressed by time management books these da...

“Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”

Basics such as motivation, setting goals and taking action are vital to get the success you want in any area of life.
But there are also other factors that play a part. Inner and outer obstacles that can stand in your way and make things harder than they need to be.
Today I’d like to explore three such things and how you can overcome these obstacles and make success easier.

These workshops will be held at the Flamingo Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip on the following dates:

Jul 16-18, 2010 (Fri-Sun)
Oct 29-31, 2010 (Fri-Sun)
Feedback was so positive on the first two CGWs that it made sense to commit to doing many more of them. On a scale of 1-10, the average rating from CGW graduates was about a 9.

One of the most common wishes people have seems to be to improve their self confidence. This can be a tricky thing and it is easy to start fooling yourself and making mistakes that keeps you stuck in place of low self confidence.
So today I’d like to share 3 mistakes I have made in the past and what I have done to move past them and to actually increase my self confidence.
I hope you find something helpful here.

If you’d like to boost your productivity far beyond the results you get with the 9-to-5 grind, an interesting alternative work schedule to consider is the One Week On, One Week Off approach. Instead of working week after week, you alternate between one intensive work week followed by one vacation/personal week.
This method isn’t very well publicized, but it’s commonly practiced by some of the most successful business people in the world. I first learned of it several years ago when Jay Abraham mentioned it on one of his audio programs. “If you ask what is the single most important key to longevity, I would have to say it is avoiding worry, stress and tension. And if you didn’t ask me, I’d still have to say it.”
George F. Burns
One good life skill is to be able to chill out. To be calm in negative situations and not overreact about all kinds of things. Or invent big, big problems in your mind – or create them in your world as you drag other people in through arguments – by making mountains out of molehills.
By being able to chill out when needed to you will:

Have a lot less stress, worry and pointless conflicts with other people.
Waste less of your time on things that aren’t really that useful.
Attract what you are. To be able to...

One of the themes that repeatedly came up at the last Conscious Growth Workshop was the problem of giving your power away. Instead of focusing on your true desires, you erect false structures in front of your desires and then feed your power to those structures as a delay tactic.
Here are some typical scenarios of how people give away their power in different areas of their lives:
Relationships
Let’s say that your true desire is to be in love. You want a relationship with someone special. You want someone that you can smooch, cuddle, play with, and make love to. You want to be with someone who totally loves you just the way you are.
But instead of focusing your power on creating that, here’s what you do instead. You decide that before you can attract a new relationship, you nee...

Personal development books, blogs and videos can be a wonderful resource to help you improve your life. Over the last few years I have learned a couple of things that helped me to make better use of that information to get actual results in my life.
I would like to share those things today.
1. Use your own common sense.
It’s easy to be drawn into thinking that gurus or teachers know everything. But a book or blog can’t know or understand exactly what you dream about and all the positive and negative experiences you have been through. No one can kno...

Some things are often deemed to be bad. Some things are often deemed to be good.
Here are three things that may sound bad but can actually be good for you. Three things that I have learned to make better use of or strengthen a bit since that would help me out. Think about them. Then add and subtract as you see useful for your life and situation right now while using your own common sense.
1. Selfishness.
Selfishness is rarely seen as something positive. The word may fill your head with images of greedy and soulless Montgomery Burns-like people.
However, personal development is in a way pretty selfish. You are trying to make yourself and your life bette...

“You must be the change you want to see in the world.”

Improving your attitude and living a more positive life overall can take a lot of time and effort. But a part of it can also be simple. You can spread positivity around you with small actions.
This will not only make you and other people feel better today. Over time you tend to get what you give. You will make it easier for yourself to live a more positive life in the long run too.

Smile. Smiling puts you and the people around you into a more positive mood. It even works when you don’t feel much like smiling. Just try forcing a smile for 30 seconds if you are feeling a bit negative and see what happens.
Give a genuine compliment. Compliments are awesome...

Lately I’ve become a lot fonder of limits than I used to be. I used to see them as something negative. Because on one level it’s great to surpass you own limits. On another level it is pretty helpful to set some limits.
So here is how I use limits to make things easier for myself and to accomplish more.
1. Drop the irrelevant stuff.
What are the most important things in your life? What are the least important things in your life? Find ways to drop the things that are actually pretty irrelevant when you think about it. This may not be that easy though and you can encounter resistance from within.
Even if it’s a change for the better you are still upsetting the order you are used to and that is uncomfortable. But to make r...

The holidays are here. It is snowing and blowing a cold wind outside of my window. Christmas decorations are hanging in just about every window in the house next door.
The holidays bring a lot of things. There is great food, awesome presents and wonderful company as you spend time with the people closest to you. But there is also the stress and sometimes negativity that often comes with the holidays.
So you may feel the need to relax and let go of some negativity. Here are four simple and effective tips for doing just that.

Time is limited. The amount of time each day that you are able to focus and get things done is even smaller. You have a few precious hours.
You can get things done faster by for instance setting deadlines and by batching similar tasks (like answering all your emails in a row). That works very well.
But you don’t have to stop at just improving your practical methods. You can also improve how you think about these things. Or even what you think and don’t think about.

“My father was a quitter, my grandfather was a quitter, I was raised to give up. It’s one of the few things I do well.”
“I’m disturbed, I’m depressed, I’m inadequate, I’ve got it all!”
“If you take everything I’ve accomplished in my life and condense it down to one day, it looks decent!”
You can learn a lot from people. Personal development stars like Wayne Dyer or Eckhart Tolle. Or your family. Or a friend.
Or even a walking disaster like George Costanza, the iconic and miserable character from the classic TV-show “Seinfeld”. Now back on the fake reunion show that is taking place on Larry David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm”.
Much can be learned from the great life of Costanza. Mostly what to avoid doing.

Charles C. Noble
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
Aristotle
Changing a habit is not always easy. It becomes even harder to change when you make what I believe are some common mistakes. I have at least made them quite a few times.
So I hope you’ll find something helpful in this article. Something that will make it at least a bit easier to change your habits and change your life.
1. Trying to change too many habits at once.
This is perhaps the most common mistake. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the enthusiasm and the hope that you will give your life a total overhaul. Nothing wrong with that.
But in my experience you won’t be able to keep it up ...

So here are 9 life lessons I have learned. Or in some cases healthy reminders of what I already knew. I hope you find something helpful for your life/blog.

Perhaps the most important thing you can do to improve your life is simply to do things. To take action and learn along the way.
Here are five suggestions for “do-habits” that are very helpful to adopt to radically improve your life.
1. Do it first thing in the morning.
How you start your day tends to have a big influence on that day. It sets the context in your mind. I believe that one key to better consistency and improvement in your life is what you do early in the day. Three ways to get a good start to your day are these:

Here are a few of my favorite fundamentals from Churchill on how to improve your life.

This is an area where people make some critical mistakes when trying to manifest their desires.
Slide Into Your New Reality
Did you ever see the TV show Sliders?
In that show a group of four people would “slide” through a portal between dimensions, spending each episode in an alternate version of earth. For example, they might enter a reality where the Nazis won WWII. Or in another reality one of them might be a famous performer.
Another TV show that can give you the right idea is Quantum Leap. In that show a man spent each episode in someone else’s body in an alternative time and ...

“When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everybody will respect you.”
Lao Tzu
One destructive habit is to constantly compare your life and yourself to other people and their lives. You compare cars, houses, jobs, shoes, money, relationships, social popularity and so on. And at the end of the day you create a lot of negative feelings within. And perhaps also outside of yourself.
But how can you stop doing it? Or at least get control of it and use it in a better way? Well, here are five tips that have helped me.

Ah, the cubicle. The beige cage.
The cubicle is the antithesis of doing work you love. Virtually no one pictures a cubicle when they think about doing what they most love.
The cubicle is where you end up when you fall out of harmony with what you love.
The only way you can be stuck in a cubicle is by giving your power away to it.
A cubicle has no power over you. You can empower the cubicle, but it can’t empower itself.
To complain about a job you dislike is an act of giving your power away. You chose the job, and you can just as easily choose to stop showing up.
Think of it this way: If you and your cubicle got in a fight, who would win?
Still not sure? How about this: You plus a chainsaw vs. the cubicle plus a chainsaw. Who’d win?
If you decide to leave the cubicle, it is po...

Asking yourself questions is a great way to keep yourself on track in day to day life. Cutting out and letting go of irrelevant stuff can help you to simplify and relaxify your life. It can help you to find more time for the things that are fun and really important to you.
So combining these two things can be very helpful. Here are three quick questions that can help you to cut irrelevant stuff out of your life.
As you use the questions more and more they tend to start to pop up almost automatically at useful points in your everyday life.

Do you live on a fixed income, earning the same amount of money paycheck after paycheck? Maybe you pick up a cost of living adjustment or a raise now and then (or suffer a pay cut or reduction in hours), but barring any major changes like getting promoted, fired, or laid off, is your income fairly stable and predictable? Do you have a good sense of what you’re going to earn during the next 3 months? Would it be exceedingly unlikely for you to earn double or triple – or half – of that anticipated amount?
If this describes you, then who decided to fixify your income? Who made that decision?
You made that decision, didn’t you? You decided to earn a fixed amount of money per month. You can trace your decisions back to some moment where you said yes to a fixed income.
Are you aware that...

To get the results you want out of life you have to be a to stick with what you are doing. Day after day. Focus and consistency is key to success in any area of life.
But the problem is that it’s very easy to get off track. It’s very easy to make a few common mistakes and shot yourself and your potential success in the foot.
Here are four mistakes that I have made many times. And a few solutions I have used to make them less frequent.
1. You get distracted.
Maybe the biggest problem when trying to stay on track is all the distractions around us. There is however a few things one can do to decrease the number of times you get distracted in day to day life.
Use a cone of silence.

Continuing on with our tips…
Communicate like a human being, not a marketer.
If your email looks even remotely like spam, expect that busy people will treat it as such.
If an email looks impersonal at all or seems like it’s being sent to more than one person, busy people will often delete it without reading it. Busy people get enough personal communication that they don’t want to bother with anything that isn’t personal.
Sometimes I get messages sent through my online contact form that start with salutations like "Hi Marc…" I actually prefer these copy/paste blunders, since it saves me from having to read them before hitting delete.
If you...

“Aim for the highest.”
“You cannot push anyone up the ladder unless he is willing to climb.”
In the late 1800s there lived a very rich man. In fact, he was so rich that he is now considered the second richest man in history. And, at least as I remember it, he became an inspiration for Scrooge McDuck.
His name was Andrew Carnegie. You may have heard this name before if you have read the classic personal development book “Think and Grow Rich”. It was Carnegie that gave the author Napoleon Hill the assignment to interview hundreds of wealthy people about success. And those interviews became the foundation for the book.
Here are four of Carnegie’s own top tips for massive success.
1. Pay attention to the more important things.

Continuing on with our tips…
Don’t apologize for reaching out.
Never begin your first contact with an apology.
Every week people send me emails that begin with phrases like, "Sorry to bother you, but…" What does this tell me about the other person’s expectations for connecting with me? It tells me they expect to bother me. Who am I to argue with them? Delete… next.
If you hint that you’re about to irritate or annoy someone, they’ll assume you’re right. Why should they do otherwise?
You might think that you’re just being polite and respectful. Are you really? Or would it be more accurate to say that deep down, yo...

Meet in person.
It’s hard to create much of a connection with someone via email. Email just isn’t expressive enough. Email is communication stripped of its emotional context.
Instant messaging is a step up from email because it’s real-time instead of asynchronous, but it’s still a very thin channel. Consequently, I virtually never use IM. It feels like trying to communicate underwater.
Text messaging is a close cousin of instant messaging and email, depending on how it’s used and how quickly people respond.
Phone calls are a big step up because now you can pick up some emotional context from tone of voice. You can build a half...

Continuing on with our tips…
Offer genuine friendship, not neediness.
This idea is more about attitude than actions. Busy people are so accustomed to being approached by people who want to vamp their energy in some way, so their shields often go up when they meet new people. In the back of their mind, they’re thinking, “What does this person want from me?”
You’ll get much better results if you approach busy people from a place of giving, kindness, generosity, friendship, and equality – as opposed to coming from a place of neediness, wanting something from them, seeing them as a potential client or prospect or valued contact, etc.
I meet a lot of busy and ...

Continuing on with our tips…
Don’t misinterpret short replies.
Busy people often send very curt replies to emails they receive. Don’t misinterpret one-line replies like "Fine, let’s do it," "No thanks," "Not interested," or "Thanks. " as being a sign of rudeness or lack of caring.
Minimalist replies are common in the business world. Consider them a sign of efficiency, not disrespect. Your message may be one of dozens being batch-processed. The fact that you got a reply at all means the other person considered your message worthy of a response.
If you write back to complain, you become an annoyance. Don’t r...

Forgive the blow-off.
Busy people are constantly being approached by those who are coming from a place of neediness. This is why busy people often seem a bit aloof when you first talk to them. Their shields are up.
I admit that when I enter new social situations with people who may know me, but I don’t know much about them, I tend to have my shields up. I get approached so often by people who want to vamp something from me that I’ve become pretty resistant to people who approach me on the basis of neediness.
I’ve also gotten pretty good at detecting Trojan horse approaches, where the person acts like they’re offering genuine fri...

Be discerning.
Don’t try to network with someone just because they seem like a high-value target.
When I started my computer games business in 1994, my networking strategy was pretty inane. I would network with everyone and anyone who was willing – especially anyone who seemed to be more successful or experienced than I was.
My networking strategy was, “If someone wants to network with me, that’s good enough.” Of course that was a desperation strategy.
I wasted a lot of time doing this. If I had done even a little bit of homework on some of the people I tried to network with, I’d have realized there were glaring incompatibili...

Continuing on with our tips…
Use a backdoor.
Busy people often have backdoor channels where they automatically pay more attention to incoming communication. In order to use these channels effectively, it helps if you have genuine shared interests that are somewhat uncommon.
For example, if the busy person eats an uncommon diet, and you eat a similar diet, that can be a powerful in.
Suppose someone emails me to say, “I’m coming to Vegas next week. Can I take you to lunch?” Now suppose someone says, “I’ve been a vegan for X years, and lately I’ve been experimenting with raw foods. Would you be interesting in sharing lunch at the Go Raw Cafe in Vegas next w...

Continuing on with our tips…
Avoid cold-calling.
Avoid cold-calling if possible. Busy people get cold calls (and a lot more cold emails) every day. This is yet another pattern that gets filtered. Cold calling is essentially the same thing as spam.
As with spam, cold-calling will sometimes result in a hit. But it requires that you pester and annoy a lot of other people for each hit you generate. It’s a very low-class form of networking and very inefficient.
When I refer to cold-calling, I’m talking about blasting the same message to large numbers of people in an untargeted or semi-targeted fashion. I’m not talking about sending a very targeted email to a specif...

This is a continuation of the “How to Network With Busy People” series. The first post in the series can be found here.
Continuing on with our tips…
Avoid making threats.
An example of a threat is, "I really need a response from you, so I’m going to keep calling/emailing you every day until you respond."
In my experience most people have the good sense not to use threats, but it does happen now and then – enough that I can call it out as a pattern.
Threats are almost always counter-productive. If you behave with such gross immaturity, you’ll simply paint yourself as a psycho, and the busy person will want nothing to do with you.
I know it can be frustrating when you don’t get the reply you’re hoping for, but don’t make matters worse by threatenin...

Don’t trigger a pattern match.
Don’t send a busy person any communication that fits the pattern of what they’ve seen hundreds of times before, or your message will simply be processed as routine and unimportant.
I understand that your message is very important to you. I know you may be reaching out in a heartfelt way. But you should know that your message probably isn’t being received the way you intended.
When you never get a “thank you” and someone sends you one, it’s a treat… a nice gift.
But when it happens a dozen times a day, 365 days a year, for years on end, well… can you see that your attitude might shi...

This article is the start of that series.
Often the people we’d most like to network with are also the least accessible. Busy people are bombarded with endless emails, phone calls, social media connections, and more. Making contact with such people can be difficult because so many others are trying to do the same thing.
Nevertheless, busy people can make very valuable contacts. They’re usually busy for a reason – lots of people want to connect with them, either for business or personal reasons.
I believe I have some solid, practical advice to share on this topic for two reasons. First, I’ve dealt with hundreds of busy people during my 15+ years as an entrepreneur. I’ve had to learn what works and what doesn’t in the real world of business. I also know how busy peopl...

Are you having a problem in your life right now?
If so, maybe these six quick tips can help you to solve it a little bit easier.

Often we create problems in our own heads – as I mentioned a bit about a few days ago in Things May Be Simpler Than You Think – that aren’t really out there in reality. So relax...

One thing many of us want is simply to free up time so we can do more of what we really want to do.
Here are three simple tips that have enabled me to find more time for myself to do so. And since I have a lot to do this summer I will apply them even more diligently than usual. I hope you will find these three tips helpful too to get more time out in the sun, to work on your book or blog, to play some Frisbee or just relax and take it easy.

“In essence, if we want to direct our lives, we must take control of our consistent actions. It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently.”
Anthony Robbins
Maybe the biggest problem people have when trying to improve something in their lives is that they never take much action at all.
Perhaps the second biggest problem is that they don’t take consistent action over a longer time period.
Now, consistency isn’t really the sexiest or most exciting word in personal development. But it is, coupled with time, what will give you real results in your life. Sticking with the program and doing something consistently – and not just when you feel inspired or something like that – is very, very powerful.

“The highest compliment that you can pay me is to say that I work hard every day, that I never dog it.”
Wayne Gretzky needs no long introduction. He is the most well-known ice hockey player of all time and one of the absolute best that there has ever been.
But how did he make that happen? Here are three of Gretzky’s tips that may give some insight into his phenomenal success.
1. Remember to have fun.
“The only way a kid is going to practice is if it’s total fun for him… and it was for me.”
I think this is a step that many of us have a big problem with. Or just forget about. Especially as we grow older.
Because when you find something you really love to do it doesn’t seem like work that much anymore.
When you do something you love you don’t have to push yourself s...

Voltaire
One way to make conversations a lot more awkward and unfulfilling is to bore people to half to death. Sometimes you don’t even know you are doing it (that’s at least what I have done). So today I’d like to list 7 common mistakes that I have made in conversations to help myself – and maybe someone else too – to avoid them in the future.
If you find you might make one or a few of these mistakes a bit too often don’t beat yourself up about it. That’s pointless. Just be conscious of it in your daily interactions and do the best you can to improve.

”Spend eighty percent of your time focusing on the opportunities of tomorrow rather than the problems of yesterday.”
“Success comes when you do what you love to do, and commit to being the best in your field.”
One of my absolute favourite personal development people is Brian Tracy. He has written many, many books about success, effectiveness and leadership.
What do I like about him?

He gets to the point quickly. Brian Tracy is one of the most concise writers I have found in the personal development niche so far.
His products are often jampacked with practical value. You get stuff you can use when you buy one of his product...

Rebecca Turner is a successful online entrepreneur who created a website to teach people about lucid dreaming, aptly named World of Lucid Dreaming. She’s been a regular participant in our discussion forums. After watching her openly share eBusiness tips with other forum members over a period of months, I asked her if I could interview her for my blog, so she can share what she’s learned with many more people.
Rebecca used Site Build It! to create her website. Since many people are curious about what kind of real-world results can be achieved with Site Build It!, I asked her if she’d be willing to share specific traffic and income figures from her business’ first year online, and thankfully she agreed. I think you’ll find her results encouraging.

One of the biggest mistakes I believe people make when trying to improve their lives is one of the simplest. They just don‘t take action based what they learn from blogs or books.
And that‘s no good at all.
If you aren’t already taking action and doing so consistently you really need to start now. Here are five powerful reasons why.
1. No one is coming.
This may sound a bit harsh. But the sooner you realize that no one else will do this for you the quicker you will improve your life.
