            <description>Everyday people in recovery often turn to 12 Step Fellowship support groups or an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) sponsor when they face a possible relapse, but some celebrities and other wealthy addicts are turning to paid &amp;#8220;sober companions&amp;#8221; to help maintain their sobriety, the New York Times reported.
Sober companions like Ronnie Kaplan, a former addict and ex-con, can earn fees of up to $1,000 per day for their services. &amp;#8220;I get there and I sit him down and relax his mind,&amp;#8221; Kaplan said of his interaction with one wealthy client. &amp;#8220;I ask him ’What brought this on?’ It’s always something.&amp;#8221; Kaplan said he will even search the client’s home for drugs if he thinks it is warranted.

Uncivilized behavior in the workplace doesn&amp;#8217;t just put everyone on edge, a new study shows that workplace altercations actually affect the way workers perform. And you don&amp;#8217;t have to be directly involved in a squabble to feel the effects of it – even employees who witnessed a co-worker being insulted or berated performed poorly on cognitive exams.

            <description>Regulators at the SEC and politicians on Capitol Hill seem to have short memories when it comes to executive compensation.  When the SEC years ago decided to make the compensation of top executives public information, it had the all too predictable result of actually increasing average compensation levels.  Once a top CEO knew what other CEOs were making, he could argue for a pay hike based upon being &amp;#8220;underpaid&amp;#8221;.  Of course regulators were &amp;#8220;shocked&amp;#8221; by the resulting &amp;#8220;race to the top.&amp;#8221; 
Similarly Congress was shocked when after deciding to heavily tax salaries over $1 million, that companies shifted away from direct cash pay and toward options and increased bonuses in the form of shares.
