Sonal Bahuguna:

Skin CareA comprehensive regimen is essential for your skin’s health.

We use several products to keep our skin beautiful such as moisturizer, sunscreen, gels, serum, and cleansers. All these products form a part of our skin care routine. It is very important to know the correct steps to apply these products to get results. Skin care is divided into two phases: Day and Night. This is so because skin requires different degrees of attention and care at different times. If you apply skin care products in correct sequence then your skin really glows.

Day Skin Care Skin care starts from the moment you wake up. Follow our recommended regimen to get the best results:

CleansingA good skin care routine begins with cleansing.

Oil CleansingOil cleansing method is best way to keep skin healthy and young.

Our skin comes in contact with a lot of harmful chemicals daily and needs proper nourishment to feel healthy and young. Oil cleansing method is great for keeping skin in shape by taking care of it on daily basis. It is a very simple method and can be easily performed at night before going to bed.
Jennifer just wants to know…I’ve heard a dermatologist say to use Aquanil to cleanse and to moisturize any dry patches. I use a product called Cerave as a cleanser and I’m wondering if it’s okay to use that as a moisturizer? I’m worried that using a cleanser/detergent on my face might irritate it or cause redness.
The Left Brain responds:
I totally agree with you Jen – it doesn’t make sense to leave ANY detergent-containing product on the skin as a moisturizer. Especially one like Aquanil that contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. The Cerave product looks like it would be a pretty mild cleanser because it doesn’t contain any of the standard harsh detergents, but some of those ingredients could be irritating too if left in contact with your skin. As Eco Salon points out, you’d be hard pressed to find a girl who cares about the environment, but doesn’t care at all about how her skin looks. That’s where Kaia Naturals’ Bamboo Facial Cleanser Cloths come in. These eco-friendly beauty bombshells are made from 100% soft, sustainable bamboo, and contain cleanser, toner, and eye makeup remover – and they don’t require water.
Here’s what the cloths don’t contain: alcohol, synthetic fragrances, parabens, or sulfates. Where can you get these supposedly miracle wipes? Why, right here.

Is An Olive Oil Cleanser Good For Skin?

Cee Gee Says…Okay, talk to me about DHC skin care products. Does the olive oil really make a difference? I use the olive oil cleansing product to remove make-up, but I’m not sure if it’s a waste of money.
The Left Brain Counters:
To answer this question I’ll begin by explaining that makeup is essentially composed of oily materials such as waxes, oils, pigments, and emollients. They stay on your face so well because these ingredients do not dissolve in water; if they did your makeup would run. But that also means you can’t remove them with water either. Standard facial cleansers don’t work well on makeup because they are designed to gently remove surface dirt and oil. The more gentle you make a cleanser, the less ability it has to remove heavy oils. Cle...

The Master Cleanse program is a liquid (lemonade) fast some of whose proponents tout its benefits as a diet while others recommend it as a detoxification regimen. In either case, its adherents are both misinformed and misguided. As with all quick-fix crash diets, Master Cleanse works initially (because of extremely reduced caloric intake and excessive bowel movements), but as soon as the fast ends and regular eating resumes, the lost weight is quickly regained. As a detoxification regimen, Master Cleanse is both unnecessary and ineffective. Your colon is not a septic tank, building up toxic contents, that needs periodic cleaning. Rather, it is an elegantly evolved perpetually self-cleaning system that empties on a regular, or as-needed, basis.
In this regard, consider the wisdom of Dr. Dou...
