Many of the challenges of childhood ADHD revolve around inattention, thought hyperactivity and impulsive behavior are not far behind.
For those with childhood ADHD the structured world we live in is a challenging place filled with academic and social challenges. Some will succeed on their own despite these challenges, while many others will fail unless some form of effective help is found.
ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and can provide serious hurdles for children in a school setting. These children tend to be very creative but fail to have the ability to focus on things that aren’t of interest to them. On the other hand things they find interesting will grab their attention in almost an obsessive way making it hard to change gears at times.

Getting people to jump in and support a new internal organizational can be difficult, especially if the idea creates change. Most of the time the person you are asking to change wants to know why they should do what you are asking them to do, and how it makes their jobs easier than the way they are doing it now.
One way to get people to buy in to your idea is to encourage them to use your new, great concept, in a way that will win over their hearts and minds. And of course if they resist you can always go authoritarian and push what you want in a top down approach as a method of compliance (which in some cases is necessary).

I sat there and stared at the piles of paper, books, magazines, and just plain junk that had accumulated on my desk over the past few months. I put my head down in my hands and almost started to cry.
“I hate clutter,” I cried out to myself. This time I didn’t know what to do. I had a big project to do and nowhere to do it. That pile of junk was keeping me from taking action.

Right then, I did something that would change my life forever. I grabbed a large cardboard box, took five minutes, and sorted all the junk into three piles. The first pile was trash and went into the trash can, the second was important stuff that required action like bills and correspondence. This stuff went into an inbox. The rest of the stuff, that I didn’t know what to do with, went into the cardboard box.

Hospital mattresses are soft and pliable. Great for the patient who wants to be comfortable. But not so great for medical staff if they have to perform CPR.
Michigan Technology University
Performing compressions on someone lying in a soft and pliable mattress will only result in the force going into the mattress and not the body. The standard answer is to get the patient on a crash board first but that requires extra time to roll the patient and position the board. Extra time that is often critical.
But a group of innovative students at Michigan Tech may just have the answer. They have been developing a mattress that will allow faster and more effective cardiopulmonary resusciation (CPR).
The idea: Suck the air out of the foam in the mattress and make it firm
The means: some tubing, a litt...

The roundtable process in any firm sets the stage for ongoing learning characterized by innovation and cutting edge progress. William Yeats described this successful approach best when he advocated building on people’s strengths. In Yeat's words: Learning is more the lighting of a fire than the filling of a pail.
Somewhere we’ve cottoned onto the notion that to critique people’s best ideas leads to progress, excellence, and advantage. Have you found that to be true? While the intention initially may have been to assist others and reach higher performances, reality has degraded critique into a one-upmanship match. When critics put down, stomp out or ridicule others’ ideas as a way to showcase or support their own, talent suffers and profitability goes down. Does it happen where you work?Increasingly, people tell us that it’s people in power, with advanced degrees and tenured in esteemed positions who tend to take more potshots. I’m not sure if that is so, because I have not seen the research. I do know a few things about critique after years of studying it&rs...

But don't hold your breath. In my view, stem cells were as much pretext as purpose behind the cloning drive. But at least now that will be exposed. (Source: Secondhand Smoke)

How to Create an Adsense-friendly Privacy Policy?

Two weeks ago, Google made modifications on Adsense Terms and Condition requiring publishers to create a privacy policy for each of their websites using Adsense.
We’ve also added some specific requirements that make it necessary for publishers to post and abide by a transparent privacy policy that users see. According to this policy, publishers must notify their users of the use of cookies and/or web beacons to collect data in the ad serving process. This change relates to advertisers’ use of innovative products and features like Gadget Ads and other offerings in the future.
Remember it’s a requirement as stated, which means that you have to firmly adhere to it.
So why do we need to create a privacy policy?
It isn’t only because Google says so; as the saying goes &...

We’re not real sure why people love to believe simplistic things about their health and the human body. Perhaps we like to believe simple folklore because, even if not true, it feels like a common, shared bond that “everybody knows” and so we can repeat with others knowing they’ll agree.
Leave it to the British Medical Journal and authors Rachel Vreeman and Aaron Carroll (2007) to spoil our holidays by debunking seven of the most commonly repeated medical myths about our bodies and living today. According to their review of the medical literature, each one of these tidbits of common wisdom are false:

People should drink at least eight glasses of water a day

We use only 10% of our brains

Hair and fingernails continue to grow after death

	Shaving hair causes ...

Watch the black cat sit for hours on the tiny bridge outside my den, and you’ll see him guard my creek … much like a sentient guards royals. Have you ever wondered what keeps cats curious? If curiosity comes with cows, though, it’s far less clear. How do I know? A respected business leader friend of mine announced to a group of us over dinner one night. “I’ve always wanted to see what makes cows tick … so I’m hanging out with a herd of 'em for one day … to see how they think.
Have you considered hidden workplace benefits packed into well balanced lunches? Simply put, what people eat at noon plays a far greater role in landing regular raises, promotion to better jobs, favor from peers, or big boosts in business … than many realize. Or have you seen food’s wallop to human brainpower? Lunches either enhance a person’s ability to be innovative … with added zip for the afternoon … or that fast food grab can zap one’s focus, shorten memory, and plain put workers to sleep on the job.
